US Post Office

Cute little post office... emphasis on the little!I simply needed to drop off a letter for mailing. And the front door was open on a Sunday, so it was nice to walk inside the itty bitty post office and drop off the letter. Too bad I didn't have time to take a quick photo -the exterior of this location had a real cute "Southwest" look to it. It blended in just nicely with the other buildings in downtown Mesilla.

While it is true that the post office building is cute and true to its setting, the service leaves a lot to desire. They are rude and arrogant--as if they are the only ones who work hard. They clearly do not believe in customer service, let alone kindness. A "hello" is a hit or miss, and forget about "how are you today"--they always look like you are a nuisance. God forbid you make a mistake in your address--they will return it to sender even if they know exactly who you are (this is, after all, a small post office) and the mail is from overseas. I wonder if they ever tried looking for another job if they are so unhappy with this one. I bet the steady schedule and good paycheck beats unhappiness. Try working for a minimum wage at all hours and in all weather conditions--many people do it and still treat other people with dignity.
