Underwood Golf Complex is not just for military members at least not not anymore they are now also open to civilians. The golf course is kept and maintained as good as its affordable price. I liked their pro shop because it has a fair amount of neat golf gear. Just like any other golf course and due to its price this golf course can get crowded during holidays so get mentally ready. The snacks cart is well stocked with beer and wine.

Listen. I have about as much business holding a golf club as I do participating in professional football (also care about as much for either). But when it comes to golf courses, this one's quite nice. I might even say it's...aristocratic.Like most places, you have the option to play 9 holes or 18. It's obviously cheaper if you bring your own clubs and happen to be in the military. Also, I had the opportunity to scope out the gift shop and...dayamn! They have single golf clubs worth more than my ice hockey skates! That's insane, yo!Attire: don't wear jeans here. Seriously, just don't. Typical golfing etiquette calls for some type of collared shirt and khakis. So, as long as you don't go looking like you're attending a BBQ, you should be fine.Unfortunately, I never got a chance to try out the local restaurant there. I was looking forward to sampling their breakfast, but...perhaps next time. I will say their locker rooms are immaculate! But you have to rent out the keys if you want to access them.Ah...but what of the course itself? Well, the layout seemed pretty standard. However, at one point I definitely saw dog poop on the fairway, which...I'm fairly certain is a no-no on the golf course. Well, at least the sand traps were well maintained (my boss must've shagged about 5 balls into the sand traps. Made me look kinda bad ass).If you're into this sort of thing, this course will do just nicely. As for me, I'm grading on a curve here, since I don't give a rat's ass about golf and was merely participating out of coercion. I'm giving Underwood 4 former hockey players questioning their life choices on a golf course out of 5.

This is for the restaurant at the Golf Complex. The hospitality is always amazing and they remember you and treat you like you are at a Michelin five star restaurant every single time. Food portions are plenty and always freshly cooked and made to order: no leftovers here. So good things come to those who wait. They offer everything from breakfast to dinner options all hours of the day. There is a well stocked bar for those who want to talk about their game after a round of golf and plenty of TVs to watch various sporting events. You can also host parties here, and it is good for large groups as well. They offer Sunday brunch and also step it up a notch for holidays. You don't need to be active duty military or military retired to eat here or get access to the restaurant. It is a great location for Northeast El Paso and a fun spot even if you are not golfing.

I can't believe this course isn't on Yelp already! It's a fantastic golf course for the beginner, intermediate, and advance. The course is actually located as a part of Fort Bliss but you don't need to show an id or go through a guard post like if you're going on to base. It's actually located a little ways off of the base and you've probably seen it if you've ever driven to the north-east using US Hwy 54.There are two courses, the Sunrise and Sunset but be warned, have plenty of spare golf balls if playing the Sunrise course! I'm a beginner so it's really challenging but, to look on the bright side of things, sometimes its fun to just watch your golf ball plop into the water! hahaha The greens are excellently maintained and the price is great. You can play 18 or 9 holes here for a fraction of the price of other courses. **TIP: For UTEP students, they offer a discount if you show them a transcript proving your registered for the current semester and the price comes out to $12 for 9 holes!!!!! A large bucket of range balls runs $6 and they have the free chipping and putting practice greens.I haven't tried their restaurant but I do have to admit, their pro shop personnel could use a little moral boost, hence the 4 not 5 stars. But good thing you can get in and out quickly to hit the links! Overall, a great place to pick up the wonderful, stressful, complicated, slightly frustrating but "ohhhhh so great of a feeling when hit right sport" of golf! Enjoy!!!

A great golf course for amateur to intermediate players, particularly service members at Fort Bliss! Pricing right around $50 for a round with cart and rental clubs. Layout is easy to navigate and not super repetitive. Will happily return whenever I'm in the mood to whack a ball in a hole!

Underwood's two golf courses are very different and challenging. The greens are very nice and quite difficult at times while they're fairways are wide and rather solid. Great service and smooth riding golf carts. Multiple trees and excellent twilight rates.

I have several complaints regarding this complex in particular with a certain staff member. But first to give you some context, I am a regular and have a membership here. I visit about 5 days a week and the staff members know who I am since they have all seen me several times. It is so frequent that I don't have to pull out my membership or range card anymore to get access to the facility including this staff member (not just me, others too).My complaint with the particular staff member is that he is very inconsistent with defining frost delays, allows strangers to bother me knowingly and repetitively, and has an bad attitude. He claims that I was stealing from the golf course for raking a few range balls when nobody was there (which I've done several times before since they know I have a range membership and its so early in the morning that nobody is there. For some reason this fellow doesn't understand that this actually saves them labor so their staff doesn't have to go out and collect balls and can do something else instead. The alternative being, I get a bucket from the machine and not use all the balls and subsequently their staff has to collect them to put the back in the machine). The thing that makes me so upset is that he knows I have a range card membership for unlimited balls and I even paid extra range balls fees for the day because he suddenly felt like he had to see my range card membership. I didn't want to bother pulling it out of my wallet/phone so I decided to just pay the bucket fees because it was easier to pull money out of my wallet and it was a way of indirectly supporting this golf course. Also, there were several other times when I paid for items without actually receiving item and did not ask for a refund since it again it was a way of indirectly supporting the facility. The thing that makes me so upset is that when I tried explaining to him about having a membership and discussing the situation, ironically he barks back at me (a customer who tries to support the facility) using several curse words, claiming that I'm stealing from the golf course for raking a few balls and that I can't play the course. All while trying to manipulate the conversation. The guy wouldn't even look at me face to face to discuss, instead yelling and then walking away.Honestly this kind of awful customer service doesn't help the facility at all. It makes the customers/members who likes the facility and tries to support it not want to.

While the pro shop and staff in the pro shop are nice the course is horrible. Most of the fairways are dirty and the greens are full of dead spots. My biggest complaint is the gentleman that assigns the carts outside. I've golfed here several times and every single time he's very rude. My wife won't even interact with him anymore because of how rude he is. I've had him argue with me about paying for my cart, berate me, and demand I get moving when I was still 10 minutes before my tee time. If I could give course zero stars because of him... I would.

The golf course was in terrible condition. As dry as a bone, fairways of complete dirt on many holes, greens that were full of dead spots and patches of weeds, etc. It was a disgrace. They wouldn't even allow you to show up until 20 minutes PRECISELY before your tee time, because you know, you're at a higher risk of contracting Covid-19 if you arrive there 30 minutes prior instead. Also, only 1 person allowed in the club house at any given time. You could also only enter through the front and only exit through the back. I understand being cautious about Covid-19, but some people have gone out of control with their standards and procedures. This place being one of them.

Underwood military rate (after 4 pm) makes this a must visit. $14 to play 18 holes, the cart and a beverage (including beer). Underwood has 2 courses which are entirely different which allows you to have a different experience when you play them both. For the regular hack, the courses are challenging enough that you will either let out a few 4 letter words or some other colorful words to express your displeasure with the results of your swing. The courses' fairways and greens are decent and watered daily as I have been the recipient of being showered by the sprinkler system several times. Overall, I recommend this course.
