Thunderbird De La Mesilla

Thunderbird De La Mesilla is a gift shop and jewelry store. They have very nice turquoise jewelry, and very interesting gifts and knick knacks. I have purchased jewelry over the years here, and on this visit, I fell in love with a turquoise cuff bracelet and purchased it, however what I didn't care for is the credit card convenience charge of 4%. They do not accept checks, and who is going to carry that amount of cash with them? This was a first here! Since when did the merchant transfer that charge to the customer? Not happy with that at all. 3/5

They didn't wrap my purchase, and it broke leaving the store. They said it wasn't their problem. Maybe losing a customer isn't their problem either.

I've come to this store and made purchases multiple times. Every time I've had visitors from out of town I have brought them to this store to buy souvenirs.Today, as I was shopping I didn't see a sign indicating not to touch something. Rather than ask me as a fellow adult not to touch those particular items, I was scolded like a child.It made me feel ashamed and embarrassed. Certainly not like a valuable customer. I understand that they don't want people to touch that stuff, but they didn't need to treat me like a naughty child.I am most definitely too embarrassed by the scolding I received to ever shop there again. And, obviously, I won't be recommending this store to my visiting family and friends. I worked retail for many years, and there is a respectful way to ask people not to touch things, and there is an insulting, shaming way to do it. Unfortunately, I was insulted and shamed right out of ever making any purchases there ever again.

Big variety of merchandise. They have crosses, religious items. A lot of southwest items and Native American jewelry they also have wind chimes. Native American pottery as well as Talavera ceramics and Oaxaca pots. women's clothing in the back rooms. Many southwest souvenirs. Employees are nice and helpful.

Impressive variety, some lovely exclusive finds. Good representation of crafts, furnishings, jewelry, native and regional art. Service was perfect, staff delightfully engaging and helpful. Just what I love about NM, nice 'finds' and good people. Thanks!
