The Grape

We took some friends there last night expecting a nice dinner. There was just one other table occupied. After placing our dinner order we waited some time for it to be served but when it came out, only three of our four orders were there. The fourth order didnt come out for almost a half hour by which time the rest of us were done eating. The waiter said that there was only one cook in the kitchen but the restaurant was virtually empty!My wife and I ordered the chick marsala which was basically tasteless, and the accompanying vegetables were also a tiny portion without taste. The delayed dinner was chicken parmesan that seemed "ok" as was the rolled lasagna.About the only thing that kept the dinner from being a total disaster was the Chianti!It's a pity that, with an empty restaurant, the service was so poor. We won't be back!

My wife and I went on Sunday. The atmosphere was nice. Sat down to a dirty bread plate. Ordered lasagna but they were out. Server kept apologizing to other tables for wrong orders or issues. Ordered spaghetti and meatballs. They were very dry. Server forgot bread. Over all not a good experience

This is not The Grape restaurant that used to be on Escondido. The prior restaurant had delicious authentic Italian food. It was a very small quaint, beautiful dining experience. I don't even know how to explain this new "grape restaurant". The food is little better than going to Albertsons and buying a box of pasta, a jar of sauce and grated Parmesan from a plastic container. The ambience is obnoxious, loud, and more suited for troglodytes than people who appreciate authentic Italian cuisine. I will never go there again. I wish they would change their name because it is deceptive as it is nothing like the grape restaurant that used to be on Escondido. Between the poor quality of the food and bad atmosphere, I can't imagine they will be in business for very long.

Beautiful restaurant. Our food came out at room temperature and only 3 out of 4 of our orders came out. The 4th dinner came after the rest of us were finished. Our glasses were empty for long periods of time. Ordered 2 desserts. One came out quickly, the other one came out half an hour later, after we had to ask about it. Really need to improve service and meal timing and temperature of food.
