Keywords: Shady, Dishonest but "nice to your face" management!After having stayed here for 5 months I am offering an updated review. Upon leaving, the manager of this company lied to my employers, apparently in an attempt to collect a free deposit from me or my employers. I was accused of leaving this place a mess. Not only was this place cleaned by me above and beyond what is usually expected of a rental and definitely beyond what is expected of a temporary corporate rental, but I was specifically told by the complex manager that "I could clean as little or as much as I wanted to since they were gonna clean anyway " the day before I left. Other than not finishing the vacuuming because THEIR cheap junky vac stopped sucking anything at all, there was not much else left to do. I cleaned the entire kitchen including all the appliances way better than they were when I arrived and even removed a few dirt marks on the carpet that came with the apartment. All in all it was as good if not better than I left it accept for the vaccuum thing. They even accused me of stealing ther cheap garbage can when in fact it was left in it's place and with a fresh bag (and a few extras underneath). Another neighbor/traveler I knew there had issues with the other neighbors complaining, every time the family set foot outside, that the children were...oh my god!... "playing outside" . Do you expect the kids to never set foot outdoors? Besides, there were kids across from me who played outdoors so the rule was not universally enforced but only enforced depending on who you know, apparently. Anyway, if you want a retirement village, advertise it that way. This place is NOT kid friendly in any way. Yet they seem to be fine with college students climbing on the fountain after dark and breaking beer bottles ("no glass" sign ignored) on the pool deck right in front of the security guard (no point in calling them, eh). Another issue mentioned in my first review was never resolved of the tap water having an odor. I took more than a few showers in water that smells like farts (and it wasn't me). This was is a complex-wide problem that they blamed on the city water yet none of the neighbors outside the complex noticed it.. Several nights I could hear what sounded like the upstairs neighbors wrestling elephants heavy objects loud sudden jarring thuds overhead) late at night. When management was told about that later they said "there was some construction going on and the guy must have been working late to catch up". Really? Starting from 2:30 am to after 4:30 am? Are you prepared to rent where they do their maintenance and construction at those hours? Do you think that if that is the case that they care at all about the tenants and owners? Did I mention how they took three visits over a period of a week to fix a simple hot water heater problem when I first moved in? Three visits and no hot water for a week..enough said. I let that one go because it was summer, but it was still a chilly shower experience. I had to call my company to get it done right finally. I take this review all the way down to a one star for dishonesty, alone! Too bad, because it was such a good first impression. I hope that precious deposit they stole or tried to steal covers some of the business they lose from bad reviews. I doubt if my company and the other travel companies will continue to use them for long if they cause problems with very many of the travelers and there is definitely a pattern starting here. I can certainly pass on my warning to future travelers to Las Cruces. We do have a choice to refuse a particular living arrangement, you know. How much of your business is traveler related because we do talk to each other and many of them saw my apartment while I was living there and how clean it was kept! We tried extremely hard to be very polite and considerate to the complex and neighbors and this is what we get for our effort. Shame on you people for lying! I wish I hadn't gone the extra mile and replaced all the light bulbs with high efficiency ones the week before I left and made extra keys for them, among many other small things. I do try to leave a place much better when I leave than when I arrive. I hope the new place appreciates my efforts more.

I had a great experience living in this condominium community. I always recommend this place to anybody who wants to move to Las Cruces. Honest and flexible management staff, and very friendly residents. I hoenstly never had a single issue with the management or the neighbors.

There is no better place to live than at the Casitas at Morningstar. I moved to Las Cruces last August for Border Patrol. I was looking for somewhere to live that is safe (casitas is gated 24hrs, unlike other apartments/condos). After looking at MANY different places to rent over one weekend I decided right away that we were going to live here because it was the nicest place for the price. You get enough space, amazing sunset or mountain views, beautiful well maintained property and luxurious amenities. It's like living at a resort! We loved renting there so much that we are now in the process of buying a unit. You will simply not get anything else like this in Las Cruces. There are a mix of people who live at the Casitas including : Law enforcement, students, retirement, young and middle aged professionals and families. The Casitas hosts different events such as poker nights, holiday parties and pot lucks so that you can get to know your neighbors better. To who ever wrote a negative comment- I am sorry to hear about your unfortunate experience. She may have had a bad experience but I assure you that it's not like that at the Casitas. I have made friends around the condos and everyone seems to love living their. If you live under someone, you should expect occasional thumping and that just comes with condo living.. Erika is probably one of the most sincere people that I have met in Las Cruces and if you meet her you will know what I am talking about. She is in no way dishonest or shady. I wouldn't let one comment from the thousands of people who have rented affect the way you think about this place. I have high expectations and those were met living here. HOA staff person was rude. Couldn't get new overly restrictive parking rules through the HOA approval process so she made up her own rules. When I requested written rules, she said "I'm telling you the rules ".Also charged my security deposit for routine maintenance (like changing the smoke detector batteries that were not beeping) and cleaning when the apartment was clean. They require you to provide a receipt for cleaning carpets in the lease so I can't object to that but other than that, my regular cleaning person cleaned it and she is a world class cleaning person. I lived there for a couple of years in corporate and non corporate units and it wasn't until recently that it started to deteriorate

I think this place is great. I have not rented AN apartment here, I have rented many, many apartments. I find the management to be responsive and helpful. They have never charged me more than what is fair at move out and I will absolutely rent here again.For the business traveler or the vacationer, this may very well be the best place you will ever stay.

pros: great management and maintenance staff, very clean grounds, beautiful condos. great place to live if you don't love to swim.cons: outdoor pool (beautiful) and now indoor pool are completely unusable as they are freezing! management heated it for a week, before inspection, in may, and residents were told it will run on "solar power" from then on! an insider who has seen the books say there is plenty of profit and they could easily afford to turn the heaters on low at least. i know of several long time residents getting ready to sell because of this.
