The bean on mesquite

This has quickly become a fav spot. Yummy drinks, good teas, and the December special peppermint cookies were the best! We love this Bean.

nice little spot and pleasant atmosphere, but I had been spoiled by my experience at the Bean at Josefina's. First of all, all the specialty drinks seem to be sugary, even the matcha latte I ordered was heavily sweetened, and because the powder comes that way, it can't be unsweetened. A specialty place like this should try to cater to those who like the drink without the added flavors as well as those who just want a sweet treat. Let Starbucks and Dunkin offer only sweet options. I expect more from youSecondly, I ordered an avocado toast. It was about $8 and consisted of one small slice of toast with HEAVILY salted avocado. My friend ordered one after me and the slice of toast was twice the size. She didn't care for it either. I mentioned the size differential to the nice server and he apologized several times but did not offer any compensation at all. Of course in this case, the error is not so much in the tiny sandwich as in being unwilling or unable to fix the problem. I blame management for not empowering this young man to do something to actually address the problem as an apology by itself is pretty meaningless in this situation.I would give them another chance but tis first impression is not favorable. The service at the new location is phenomenal! I have only come a couple of times and I'm going to make it a regular weekly stop! The location is perfect on a Sunday after yoga. So much closer than the Mesilla location and just as welcoming!
