I have been looking everywhere for purple prickly pear cacti, and finally found them here at Sunset Gardens! The staff are helpful, and friendly, but steer clear of the white-bearded fellow. He is not friendly whatsoever! Fairly priced, and good selection. We will be back! Recommended. 5/5

Sunset Gardens has a small pumpkin patch. They were setting it up today and should be ready by this afternoon. We stopped by for local honey since it should help us adjust to allergies. They have herbs (mints, basil, cilantro, herbs buena, etc) and mums as well as kale!

As many times as we've been to the Riviera, I don't know how yesterday was the first time I've ever seen Sunset Gardens. It isn't exactly hidden, there's just a lot going on when you drive down Doniphan so it might not catch your eye unless you're actually looking for it.My husband brought me here yesterday (a Wednesday) because I told him I was on the quest to find a peace lily and he had been here years back. Even though I was looking for an indoor plant so I should've immediately made my way inside, I decided we had to make a detour and check out all of their outdoor plants first. Such a large variety, all at very good prices for the area, and all well maintained. While we took our leisurely stroll, we were greeted by a man and asked if we needed any help (I didn't catch his name and I was so wrapped up in the flowers, shrubs, and trees that I didn't ask if he was the owner so I'm no help here). I let him know that I came for a peace lily, but I was just checking out the outdoor plants first. He let me know that they did in fact have peace lilies which meant our trip wouldn't be a bust.Eventually we made our way inside and he was super helpful and pointed out all the sections of peace lilies (since they had different sizes, each size was in a different area). Again, I had to look at everything! Every plant was well taken care of. Nothing that looked like it was on its last leg. Everything had been watered appropriately. After looking at the size varieties of the peace lilies, I decided that the 4" was the best for my needs (small 6" pot in my bedroom so it had room to grow but wouldn't outgrow the pot too quickly). I picked up one, took it to the counter, and was rung up... less than $6! That's a great deal!I'd absolutely recommend Sunset Gardens for all plant needs. Next time I want to check out their soil selection and pick up some of their outdoor flowers. So many choices, so well maintained, a great shop!

I browsed their outdoor section and wasn't greeted by anyone (but that's alright because I like to just look around and ask for help if needed, I'm a very low maintenance customer). Quite a few plants looked sad and dying... even some cacti (didn't look too happy) and agave (leafs were burned on edges, some brown, and there were dead yellow leafs at the base). It made me feel sad.As I was walking back to the car disappointed, I found out there was an indoor portion. The inside portion was beautiful. It seems this is the area where they put most of their care. They even have some very nice outdoor cacti thriving (these ones looked happy). There was a great variety of plants ranging from jade plants (a couple of large ones that got turned into trees), peace lilies, cacti, ZZ plants, mother-in-laws tongue, monstera plants, pothos, and ferns such as ribbon fern. The place is a little pricy but it has a good variety.

I just accidentally found these folks and was thrilled that they had a great selection of cactus, including some beautiful fishhook barrel cacti that in May were in full bloom. But here's the best part -- as rarely happens, the fishhook rotted out when I got it back to San Antonio. It could have been our week of rain, poor re-potting (I doubt it) or the supplier sent Sunset some cacti that had never rooted. Regardless, a great staffer there, Jazzy, gave me a full refund more than six weeks later after I supplied her before-and-after photos of the sickly barrel. They could have easily said, "Are you kidding. Six weeks later?" But they did the right thing, and now I'll be sure to stop there whenever I'm coming through El Paso. Bruce

This is my favorite plant nursery to visit besides lowes and home depot. They always have a good selection of indoor and outdoor plants though I only come for the indoor. They have unique plants every now and then that you can't get from lowes, home depot or ace hardware. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because they tend to price gouge on your average plant that you can get for less than half the price from lowes or home depot. That is the reason I've pretty much stopped coming here unless I'm looking for a rare type of indoor plant. They are friendly which is nice and rare in El Paso. Over all I like this place even if it's just to go look at plants for fun.

This place was a cute find! I was looking for office plants and walked out with 3 that I totally loved. The workers were also very knowledgeable and gave good advice on watering and taking care of the plants. I will definitely come back here to buy more plants

The staff are really nice and friendly. There are a lot of choices of plants to choose from so it was very exciting to check this place out. I went here to get a Christmas tree as well and they were really nice enough to help tie my tree to my car. However, every plant I buy continues to die and be diseased and even the Christmas tree seems to be dying really quickly.

I have encountered inaccurate plant species showing on plant sign descriptions. In such a situation, you may end up with a flower color different than what is posted on the description. Some sign posts are so faded that the plant description is unreadable. Staff at cashier is not friendly at all. Go elsewhere. They do not answer calls. Their voicemail box is full, too. Prices are lower at many of El Paso's orher nurseries and staff is much friendlier.

They charge a 3.5% fee for card payments no matter how much you spend. some of their plants are diseased, their selection is mediocre. 2 stars.
