Amazing star gazing. Where I camped with a small tear drop trailer was awesome. Never have I seen pitch black as far as the eye can see. The store is small but they have supplies and gas that's cheaper then in Big Bend Park. This place sits just outside the main entrance to Big Bend. Prices are decent. No WiFi except at the store. No cell service mostly. Some coyotes sand me to sleep every night when they would come down from the hills. Javelinas are abundant too. Great time thanks StillWell!!

This place is a lot more than an RV park! I've tent camped here for two years in a row, and it is an incredibly secluded and quiet place to camp. The tent sites are accessible by car, but you'll feel as if you have left society if you get to hear the coyotes howl at night. There is WiFi at the store, plus laundry and showers. The staff has always been very nice. Plus there is even a history museum of a local female rancher. Great place to stay on your way to Big Bend NP or even a few days to take in the desert.

Me and my girlfriend made a last minute decision to go to big bend and found this place recommended on the website. It was a life saver and not a bad drive outside the park. The people there were so nice. We had just bought an air mattress that self inflates and we forgot D batteries. We had nothing but a few blankets and knew it would be a rough sleep. The owner of the ranch came back with batteries he took out of flash lights in his truck and gave them to us for no cost at all. Really genuine people and was a great place to set up camp. The store had most necessities (besides D batteries lol) and beer! Would highly recommend, many sites have electric and water as well.

If you're looking for some peace, quiet, and the ability to "get away from it all," then look no further. Stayed here for a week in December with my father and had a great time. First you must know that I am not a regular RV'er/camper. My father is the RV owner and moves around the country full time; I was just down for a holiday visit. He usually comes here every winter and I was finally able to make it down here and escape the northern cold for a change. This part of Texas is remote, quiet, and beautiful. Many people that stay here come to check out Big Bend National Park, the north entrance of which is 7 miles from Stillwell Ranch. During this part of the year the park is fairly empty but at other times can get quite busy. They have around 30 full hookups (electric, water, waste) and another 20 or so partial (electric and water only.) There are also some areas just for tent campers, some of which can offer a fair amount of privacy, if that's what you need. These areas have fire pits (you can buy firewood at the store) and usually have a trashcan nearby (don't be a litterbug!!) There is a ton of hiking in the immediate vicinity and some 800,000 acres of serene high desert in the National Park. Upon arrival, you can check in at the Stillwell Store and will find the staff to be friendly and helpful. They have basic supplies here (snacks, drinks, beer) as well as a small gift shop and Hallie's Hall of Fame Museum (small but interesting.) Prices are reasonable but if you are staying for more than a couple days you'll probably want to stock up on supplies before you get here, as the nearest restaurant or grocery story is in Marathon, 40 miles driving. The nearest Wal-Mart is in Fort Stockton, about 100 miles driving.Important note: They do have wifi here but don't expect to be streaming HD videos from Netflix (that's not why you came anyway!) It is standard DSL speed but you are sharing it with every other tenant on the ranch. Cell phone coverage is nonexistent but you can pick it up here and there at the National Park, though 4G and LTE is unlikely. Once you take care of those details, you should be good to take in the fresh air and natural beauty of southern Texas. Hope you brought your camera and hiking shoes! And suntan lotion... Enjoy, 5 stars!

First let me start with John, the owner. He was awesome and let us check in at 8 pm without a reservation because it's off season and he's a great guy. Gave us tons of information on Big Bend Park and is an encyclopedia on local goings on. We were the only RV'ers in the park and the night sky was impeccable. Milky Way? No problem! Only 7 or 8 miles to Parks north entrance, closest RV park without staying in the park. Slept great, so quiet. No tv- perfect. Had a full 50 amp service, water (well) and sewage. if I ever get back that way again I would stay again in a heartbeat.

There's not much to it but it's a perfect spot. Quiet setting, friendly staff. Stayed a couple nights in February. It's proximity to Big Bend is perfect. WiFi works best near the office and we were lucky enough to be parked in site #2 so we had WiFi from our site and it was decent... not for streaming but good enough to check email and Facebook. No Verizon cell service at all so that was nice. We would definitely stay here again. Definitely visit the Hallie Stillwell museum while you're there. She was amazing!
