Sola African Braids

I asked for braids straight back.If you have sensitive scalp don't go here. I paid 80 dollars just to take out the braids before the next day and still lost some of my edges. I'm probably not gonna go back, the vibe just wasn't for me. It felt rushed.

Found this shop while doing COVID-19 crisis response work in El Paso,TX. I've work braids for years so I'd definitely consider myself an expert. As such, I can't say enough about how satisfied I was with Ms. Sola and her staff. The shop was clean, organized, AND sanitized. The staff wore their masks and sanitized their hands appropriately. They didn't eat, take care of their children, or talk loudly on the phone while providing my service as has been my experience elsewhere. My braids were neat and they were done in record time. This shop gets my highest recommendation!

Love Sola ... shes fast shes efficient and always does amazing work from males to females ... i definitely recommend Sola!!!!

Walked in yesterday to get pricing and appointment info. One of the braiders offered to take me in for about an hour later. Very good work, and great prices!

They quoted one price over the phone tried to charged me more! Won't go unless I have too!

My husband wanted to surprise his momfor her birthday so we drove to El Paso. I've never been there but I know my MIL loves to get her hair braided. While we were having her birthday lunch, I started searching for nearby braid salons and I came upon Sola's. Luckily this place was close by my MIL's house and Sola was willing to take us as soon as we finished lunch. My MIL was so surprised and she LOVED her hair !!!!

Would not recommend, came here to get two simple cornrows before I left the state and honestly she was very friendly and welcoming but the service was awful. Definitely did not get what I paid for

Gosh I hate leaving bad reviews, but I spoke with this woman twice on the phone about how much my braids would cost. She had ample time to ask whatever questions she needed to. I sent her pictures of the style I wanted and she gave me a quote. Then I get there and my hair is longer than she wanted, so she charges me more. I wanted to pay cash, but I guess she only accepts big bills - and I'm like ok fine but that's unusual. But she won't wait for my friend to bring different cash, she makes me set up a Zelle account, and *fortunately* I had enough in the bank that day to pay her. She told me on the phone that they provide hair, so I wouldn't need to bring any. I get there and am trying to decide between 2 colors, so I ask if she can use both, since the style I was getting would require more than one pack anyway. I suggested different ways of combining them or blending them, but that apparently costs another $20. I'd understand the fee if blending colors was something difficult or time consuming to do, but it's not. And it's not like they had every color I could've wanted, so you'd think she'd be willing to accommodate.And THEN she changed the style I asked for. It was very clear in the pictures, and she did warn me she might have to make it more slanted/diagonal than it was in the pics. I said that was ok, anything close to the style I wanted would work. However it came out literally nothing like I wanted. And her parting was not symmetrical from the very first part on, so the two sides have different numbers and placements of braids. Luckily it came out in a swirly style - mind you the style I asked for was straight and geometric really not at all similar to what she did - so you don't notice how quite how asymmetrical it is.The braids have stayed in nicely, but every other thing about this experience was negative. Hopefully she sees this review and at least shows a picture of the style that she wants to do on someone before changing it in the future.

1st bad Yelp review ever!!!Went by the day before and showed the owner my hair and scheduled an appt for the next day. Next day walked in and was confronted and yelled at by the owner asking "you didn't take down your hair"? Then yelled saying she told me to take down my hair. 1st, she never told me to unbraid my current corn rolls. 2nd, I am new to even having corn rolls and have never had to or been asked to unbraid them. Almost walked out. Then the girl who is going to braid my hair asked me if I wanted her to take them all down or just follow the pattern that is there which would be faster. Gave her the option, she didn't take them all down. While doing my hair, looked around and asked if they take card. Yelled at again by owner saying they only take cash and I can go to the ATM. At the end, paid the owner, still left a good tip and not even a thank you. 2 days later rubber bands are falling out, hair is frizzy and looks the same as when I went in. Gave 1 star because the girl braiding my hair was actually nice. Never again!!!

I walked in with a picture of what I wanted (me with a previous incarnation of the style I currently wanted) and walked out with a better version of the same. The price was a little higher than I expected but so was the quality of the work and the results. There was some pulling (I have thick, unruly hair) but not unduly so. The last time I had my hair done, there was no discomfort, but my hair also didn't come out as nicely as it did this time.It is a low key operation and they do not wash hair- I was glad because I had already washed and conditioned my hair and the last thing I needed was to be pressured into a simple but time consuming service that I didn't need but I would still have to pay for. I have every intention of going back when I need my hair done again- which, do to the quality of work, may be farther away than I originally intended.
