The grounds of the museum are outstanding with wonderful very large white poplar trees. A great place to catch the shade. The museum gift shop is wonderful with the largest selection of local gifts I have seen. The museum itself is filled with many wonderful historic artifacts that span the history of the area. I highly recommend a visit.

Small but interesting old home in silver with a lot of history. Probably the best gift shop in town as well. Worth the visit whether you're a local or passing through.

The grounds, murals and interpretive signs at the Silver City Museum are definitely worth a visit even if the museum is closed. There are shaded areas to sit and enjoy coffee and local history, including a nice map of the historic buildings downtown, perfect for a walking tour.

What a sweet museum in a historic building (I think). Clean and historic with a lovely gift shop. Currently (Nov. 2023) a special exhibit of the Chihuahua Hill area of Silver City. It's a definite stop in and visit place. (Tried to attach photos but couldn't. Sorry.)

I loved this place, built in 1881 and all the old antiques in this place! So if you are ever in town, come and visit, and get a history lesson of this place and Silver City.

I love small museums. This museum has very good historic displays and as SIlver is in its Centennial year, the centennial displays add a very nice touch. I was investigating the events they have during the year and felt honored to be able to chat with a curator for about a half hour, on the setup of historic events. Keep it up Silver - Other small towns need to follow your example! Good job!

Wow, those sweet ladies were working for free?!?!!? The selection of goods was pretty nice for such a small space....they even let us copy a few historical documents pertaining to our family! Andrew made a significant purchase: a bottle of gold dust with a Kokopeli figure on the stopper. (He thinks it will finance his limo ride to school) How New Mexico can you get?

A Must See on your visit to Silver City, NM. We stayed at the lovely Murray Hotel and the Museum was a short walk up the street. In depth history of the area and artifacts, as well as a beautiful, complete gift shop. I bought some little hand painted ceramic dishes, and more!Sandra M

This is a museum lovingly tended to by volunteers. The museum explains the history of Silver City inside of a 3 story house that used to belong to a well to do family. Not only did the displays inform guests, but the house itself showed how people lived in the 19th century. And the volunteers will gladly answer all of your questions---telling you to take care on the winding staircase up to the third floor. After you have wandered around, stop at the sales desk and pick up a few items. Museums like this always have things you won't see anywhere else. I got some small rubbery dinosaurs and a twisty toy that will entertain small children on car rides.
