Unfortunately, with such a limited number of quilt shops within the area around El Paso, we visited here several times. The most recent visit, today, while fulfilling in fabric, was largely disappointing when it came to the staff. We walked in, we were greeted. We told them we're just browsing and they offered their help if we need anything. We said thank you, and moved around the store. Young lady comes up to us, asks if we need any help, we say we're just browsing and will let her know if we need anything. What struck me as odd, was the fact that she leaned against a table close to where we were looking at items and watched us. It wasn't a casual watch, it was a " let me make sure you're not here to steal". It felt uncomfortable. And I wish I could say this is the first time this has happened. This happened at their now closed location in El Paso, also. I altogether stopped going there because of that reason. I am not sure whether we'll ever return to this store, after today. It's sad, really, because I know what I am looking for in a store and I am not there to take anything without paying.

I'm forever going to be a beginner at sewing since I don't make the time or have patience to take the classes. Having said that, I always look hopeless and confused when I walk into fabric and notion stores. The customer service representatives always spot me right away. Luckily, I found Sew What's New (fyi: one of the most clever and cute business names I've come across). They helped guide me in the right direction as far as finding specific materials that I needed for my project...things that I had never heard of. They seem popular as the shop was full for one of their early morning classes.Friendly and ready to assist...no matter how dumb you think you're question might be. A little more pricey but worth it for me since I would be saving on gas to go to their competitors locations across town. Great location too!
