During my solo trip to El Paso, it was very nice to access and go on this scenic drive. The city is already beautiful within itself as it is a West Texas town with the Franklin Mountains being so close that the eye can see. I was excited to travel on the long and winding road. The winds were strong once I got to the top. The view was very pleasant to see the whole city including parts of Mexico. The Mexico side was so colorful mixed in with the dusty desert climate. It wasn't crowded like the Blue Ridge Parkway scenic drive that I partook in while visiting Asheville, NC. There was plenty of parking at each point to stop to look. I loved this attraction!

This definitely a must do when you're in ElPaso, not only it's windier and cooler up top, you also get to see Ciudad Juarez without crossing the border. The drive up the hill is not bad, it's smooth drive and not a lot of traffic. There are two viewpoints, the midway one which has tons of parking and the top viewpoint, limited parking but worth the stop.

This is a well maintained windy road many many hundreds of feet above El Paso. There are multiple places to stop and take pictures of El Paso, Juarez and beyond! From this distance, the border is less obvious than from up close. Your experience will be defined by the weather. If it's windy, it's very very windy. If it's calm, it's very serene.Life is good with an amazing view!

Breathtaking view of El Paso. You can see cuidad Juarez in the far distance. Didn't catch the sunset, but I hear it beautiful. Definitely a stop to go to if you visit.

We drove up the windy road. Apparently you can see Ciudad Juarez (Mexico) from up here, but I'm not sure which direction to look. I'm sure the view is even better at night. It was a quick stop.

Just breathtaking! This is a must drive if you are visiting El Paso. Beautifully manicured houses on both sides of the road. The scenic drive is 1.82 miles long and as heigh as 555 feet above Rio Grande. The views of El Paso, Ciudad Juarez and the Chicuahuan desert are simply unbeatable.

"The long and winding road, that leads to your door, will never disappear; I've seen that road before; it always leads me here, lead me to you door"If the long and winding road represents the tension of The Beatles as their careers started down different paths, then the Scenic Drive demonstrates the natural start of Franklin Mountains being overcome by the continuous modernization of the City of El Paso. From this view, you're also able to see the City of El Paso, Cuidad Juárez (Mexico), and the State of New Mexico. The top of this point is known for family photos, and a high school graduate was there today celebrating her milestone with her mother. It is a long and winding road to reach the parking spaces, and don't be surprised if you need to turnaround and hunt for a parking spot. Slow down, respect other drivers, and soak in the views. Their stunning!

Scenic Drive turned 100 in 2020! No birthday party until 2022, though (gee, thanks, pandemic!)I am so lucky to have this El Paso gem right in my backyard. It's stunning any time of day, but especially on clear days and nights. Every time I drive it, I look out over the beautiful El Paso and Juárez horizon and reflect on the deep interdependence and connection of our two side-by-side (or riverbank-by-riverbank) cities.Whether you're local, or a visitor, if you haven't done Scenic Drive by car, foot, bike, etc., you are missing out.It is closed on Sundays (to motor vehicles) to facilitate other recreation for all. I believe the 2022 hours are 6-11am from April-September and 7am-noon from October-March.

Scenic Drive is closed on Sundays for motorized traffic and solely open for pedestrians. This is by far one of the coolest city moves the local government has agreed on and done for their people! LOvE IT. It encourages physical activity which increases overall health and happiness on all of those who come by to walk it. I highly recommend walking early for sunrise or late for sundown. Otherwise it is too hot during the day. The scenery at either of those times is lovely. Scenic drive is open for motorized traffic any other day of the week. You can park your vehicle and if you got quarters use the binoculars. There are two separate entrances to go uphill the mountain in hiking trails. There are plenty of trash cans but no porta potty.

The name pretty much says it all. I took a trip to El Paso for a few days and the scenic drive was at the top of our list. El Paso is a beautiful city where the mountains serve as a nice backdrop. It's a hilly city and the scenic drive will take you up high so you can see a beautiful view of the city below and even Ciudad Juarez beyond the highway. You can check it out in multiple ways: you can drive it through winding roads with beautiful houses along the way and make periodic stops to park, get in your car, and take in the sights. Or, you can walk a portion of it. It's also nice to check out both during the day and at night. No matter the time of day, it's pretty romantic and makes for a great date. Check it out. It's free, beautiful, and fun. What more could you want?
