Roberto's Special Plate. Lots of food but most of it was so-so in flavor. As you see here the relleno had a big glop of dough covering it.
Roberto's Special Plate. Tamale filled with cheese and bits of green chile. Relleno had a thick batter over the top with eggy flavor.

Inside Roberto's Mexican Food. Order up front...no table service. Sort of a fast food operation.
Roberto's red chile con carne smothered burrito. Fair amount of meat with no potato. Flavor was not great. Seemed to have a lot of cumin.

Roberto's red chile con carne smothered burrito. Overload of cumin, or something, ruined the flavor. Rate it a "C-."

The food is good but the service is slow and unfriendly. I waited a long time for a burrito and a pint of beans. Others that came in the restaurant placed an order after and left before I got my order.

Roberto's is an old favorite. Walked in to get an order to go at 6:00pm and was surprised they told a few customers after us that they were going to close even though their posted hours were 8:00pm. The food was delicious with fluffy sopapillas and a relleno burrito with just the right spice.

The best green Chile meat burritos in town! They are hot and spicy, just like the locally grown green chiles. The meat is juicy and that's it! Nothing else but these two great ingredients, plus the flour tortilla. If you like hot and green Chile, go no place else before trying this place. This is all I order here, and I'm happy when I do. Be prepared to wait in the drive thru line. They are NOT McDonalds!

This place is locally owned and operated by the family of late but forever great Roberto Estrada. Roberto's legacy of Guinness world record enchiladas, his superior business ethic, and the taste of delicious New Mexican style food is what makes Roberto and his restaurant iconic.Roberto's was a place I loved to eat as a kid growing up in Las Cruces. Now as an adult, I the drive thru has been my go to for any food I pick up. My favorites are their burritos, specifically because of their flour tortillas!Recently stopped by for breakfast burritos and was not disappointed! The eggs in the burrito tend to be a bit oily so make sure to ask for napkins! I cannot recall a time I ever got a bad order from Roberto's, although I do agree that the customer service could be seen as cold at times. Growing up I never saw this as a negative because I never felt their intention was to be rude, it was just that the business was always busy and they're always working double time to provide the fastest service possible.Definitely recommend the drive thru because they are making the orders as they come in, unlike the large fast food chains who have the food sitting for hours. I believe Roberto's drive thru does it right even though (as Americans) we think fast food should be FAST!

Food was okay, nothing to write home about. However my biggest concern was the metal I found inside my tamale. A metal shaving from steel wool was inside my food. Called multiple times and got no answer. Trash. Don't ever go here

My significant other went to Roberto's about 20 minutes ago to pick up three dozen of their rolled tacos. I bit into one and there was a tooth pick , actually rolled into the taco . I called to complain , they would not let me speak to the manager or give us their name. They also , said there's a warning on their menu inside that there may be tooth picks In the food. I understand how one can break , but how can a whole tooth pick be rolled into the middle of it. I will no longer be going there. If it was a small child who bit into it , it could harm them , tremendously.. This isn't the first time either , I've heard from others the same thing has happened to them at Roberto's.

There seems to be new people working at Roberto's. They are very friendly and courteous at the drive-thru and counter. I used to hate going there because of the rude lady. It's a pleasant experience now. Are there new owners now?

It had been a while since I checked out Roberto's so I needed to update my evaluation. One reviewer stated that the employees were new and that the infamous poor service was a thing of the past. I have never used their drive up window so I can't comment on that but I found the service at the front counter to be pleasant and efficient. No complaints. The menu of course is mostly New Mex. Prices are very reasonable. The interior is clean and roomy. It is a nice place for a casual meal. Roberto's operation continues to be similar to fast food. You order at the counter, pay, and they give you a receipt with a number. They call you up to the counter when the food is ready. Mine was ready in about ten minutes and presented on a tray with the food on plastic plates. You take the tray to a trash can when you're finished. No follow ups or table service but no tipping either. Today I ordered Roberto's Special Plate and a red chile con carne smothered burrito. The combination plate had two enchiladas covered by a green chile sauce with white cheese. These enchiladas were so-so. Rate them a B-. The tamale was made with what appeared to be a soft white tortilla with no masa flavor. Inside the tamale I found cheese and bits of chile...no pork. That's how Roberto's does their tamales on a green combo plate. The tamale had a little kick and I kind of liked the flavor but it seemed much like the enchiladas. Rate it a B- also. The whole beans on the plate were fairly good. Rated them a "B." The rice was the usual. A ground beef taco with a crispy shell accompanied the meal. It was just ok...nothing special to note, Rate it a B-. The chile relleno was small and not great tasting. Instead of a light coating of batter it seemed as if a large pack of dough was tossed over it...thick with an eggy flavor. There was no cheese inside the somewhat small chile. This was a rather strange relleno. Rate it a "D." Over all, this plate was not poor but somewhat mediocre. The red chile con carne smothered burrito had a fair amount of meat inside and no potato. The flavor of the meat and chile sauce was rather strange: It seemed to have too much cumin flavor in it...or something, Rate the burrito, sad to say, a "C-." All in all...the atmosphere, prices, and service at Roberto's were fine today, but the food was not top drawer. With most of the food in the C- to B- range I don't think I'll be hanging out there. Rate the overall dining experience around THREE AND A QUARTER STARS....for very pedestrian.

Went here this afternoon & the old lady at the drive through window.. was SO RUDE i even feel like she's past being rude if you ask me, the usual customer service as always.. (ASS) when i drove up to get my order from the window she litterly "handed" basically threw my bag at me. I get home and my enchiladas are all lopsided where they should be.. its almost empty, they landed over my rice and beans, & not to mention all the slams of drive through window they give you in your face before the shitty customer service, they have the window broken from slamming it with all their might.
