I love this trail and think it's the best in town! Paved, wide, and 10 miles long! It's great for walking, jogging, skating, and cycling! I enter off of Country Club and ride all the way to the end and back and never have any problems. It's beautiful when the river is running, but expect more bugs. I look forward to getting more trails like this in the next few years.

The river park trail is a very nice place to take a walk with your dogs. It is quiet and the only traffic you'll encounter are bikers. Good views of the Franklin Mountains. Have been on that trail many times at different times of the year. It is especially nice when the river is flowing in the summer.

From the Visitors Bureau Website: The River Park Trail is a stretch of paved trail that parallels the Rio Grande from Country Club Road in El Paso, TX, to the New Mexico State Line in Anthony, TX. Whether you walk, jog, or ride a bike, this trail provides vistas of the Franklin Mountains to the east and the mesa's of New Mexico to the west. There is no cost and it is open year roundFrom me: Parking at Country club is limited. There isn't a parking lot. Just parking on the side of the road. 4 Wheel drive isn't necessary but it helps. I believe the full length of the trail is 12 miles but it depends where you start and stop counting. . There are plans to expand it and also add more park-like things along the way. Right now there are benches but no shade or water sources. People tend to take their dogs off leash which I am not a fan of. My dog is always on leash. Some think they have control of there darling dogs when they aren't nearly as well behaved as they think. I bring pepper spray just in case.

Very safe and nice area to walk along Rio Grande. Concrete walkway. . No place for parking so I parked in a shopping area parking lot. Mostly bicycles from neighboring areas and people walking their dogs. River was dry (January). Nice views of mountains in background. Gets chilly fast after sunset.
