Stopped by on my way back from TX to CA. Was not expecting to see a Punjabi spot in Deming, NM but here we are. Considering it was 9am when I stopped so I wasn't quite ready to eat butter chicken and roti but it smelled absolutely amazing inside. I ordered a chai and it was delicious. If whatever reason I'm in the area again I will definitely try some of their food!

I want to thank the first reviewer for making me aware this place existed. I visit Deming often and even weigh my RV at this building, yet we had no idea the diner was even here.I love Indian food, so DW and I tried Punjabi at the Deming Truck Stop tonight. Now, it has all the ambience appropriate to a truck stop, which is the only reason I can't give it five stars... though I would otherwise love to for the tastiness of the food and the eagerness of the staff.I particularly like buffets, since you can sample a variety of a cook's creations. Tonight they offered black daal lentils, yellow curry with paneer balls, egg curry, chicken curry, and chicken wings (mislabeled as "goat meat"), plus a yoghurt dish and a pudding, which we didn't try. The waitstaff continued to bring out large, fluffy naan as long as you wanted to eat it. The paneer was just OK, but I found the other dishes extremely tasty, especially with the accompanying cloved rice. The restaurant was fully staffed, with five folks working and chattering happily in the kitchen, coming out as needed to serve and clean. When my wife expressed mild disappointment that the "goat" meat was chicken (since she had been looking forward to sampling the goat), the waitress immediately brought her a cup of curried goat with cilantro, gratis. The cook and staff genuinely appreciated the customers and hustled to go the extra mile to please them. We will enjoy eating here on future stops in Deming!

Apparently new owners? Anyway, we were disappointed. We didn't do the buffet, but ordered to go. Chili Chicken and Chicken Curry. The chili chicken tastes almost like General Tso's chicken and not an Indian dish. The Curry chicken had dark meat instead of white. I think that they just deboned the legs from the buffet and put it in a container. The sauce had a good flavor except that it was VERY heavy in grease, presumably form the ghee butter for which they seem very proud and the fact that they use chicken legs with skin, therefore fat. We ordered plain naan and got buttered. For $38 it was almost no food and subpar at that. I can't believe that they charged us for the rice. I've never been to an Indian restaurant that did that. Nice man who took our order, but wasn't impressed with the food enough to return.

Excellent Punjabi dhaba food that reminds me of home. Very well priced buffet. Meat and vegetables were good quality. And naan freshly made and brought out while you eat! Very well priced buffet and overall top notch

This buffet is fantastic! The food, in an unexpected location, feels authentic and delicious. The homemade, piping-hot, made-to-order, unlimited naan and roti were a standout. The only thing rivaling the food is the staff- who are kind, conscientious and great fun to talk to. Finally, to comment on a previous review who mentioned cleanliness concerns, we did not experience that at all. It was spotless. It felt like a true, off-the-beaten path gem in the middle of the desert. A trip highlight.

Food was good, but hope we don't get sick. One guy up front, who cannot do everything, but must. The connecting gas station has their front door blocked open, so there is a thousand flies flying around IN the restaurant. As we checked out a roach was on the counter. The guy just shoo'd it always like it was a household pet. God only knows what the kitchen looks like. The place was busy, but we will not be back. We are starting to whittle down the restaurants in Deming, worth going to. This is not one of them
