Pepe's Tamales

We stopped here passing through El Paso and thank goodness we did. We only tried the tamales verdes and they were absolutely delicious. I also got a barbacoa burrito and that too was amazing. Anytime we're passing through we will definitely go by Pepe's.

I've been buying Pepe's Tamales going on for 40 years and let me say that I could care less that there other tamale vendors in town. In my house only Pepe's.So to May disappointment this week when I got may 2 red dozen 2 green dozen and was shock to see the my red tamales were a disappointment with only a spoon full of meat at the top end and the rest was masa at $21.99 they should be recopeteado de carne or aleast the Masa covered in red Chile. Come on junior you have to keep the values that Don Pepe was so proud of." Making a Great Tamale "

I walked up to the store, and ominously they had a sign that said, "Red tamales only". Fortunately for me, they had both red and the sweet tamales, but just no green ones. I was worried that the red ones were going to be spicy, but they weren't at all.Red tamale- The masa is light and moist, with some granularity to it. The red chile pork filling is generously stuffed in the middle. It is tender, with shreds of pork. It is seasoned well with tomato and chile.Sweet tamale- This did not have any filling. Rather, it is a lightly sweetened masa with small raisins and anise. My first bite tasted strongly of anise, but subsequent bites allowed the sweetness to shine through. I liked how the raisins were small so they didn't dominate each bite. I want to come back here to try the champurrado and the green tamales! Note this is a take out place, with no seating.

First review for 2024! I was craving Green Chicken Tamales and I just couldn't find them anywhere, but then I remembered this place! This place satisfied my craving and I got my dozen for like 19.99, it's the same price as the Tapatia. I like Pepe's because this is their specialty and not like other places where you have to order ahead of time or sell just during the holidays. These tamales were delicious and very spicy, with the perfect amount of chicken! They also had regular pork and also rajas con queso. I also noticed on the menu they have a tamales special in the morning like from 7 to 10 am and they also sell barbacoa. Service was fast and friendly and there was no waiting in line! Will have to try the menudo as well!

Great food just a little expensive for Tamales, but they're good. If they could add just a little bit more meat and a little bit more Masa, they'd be perfect.

Bomb af. Great tamale. Will be back definitely for all holidays. Easy to get to fast service.

I had a fantastic experience at Pepe's Tamales! Jorge was incredibly helpful, friendly, and kind. He went above and beyond to answer my questions and make recommendations. The tamales themselves are absolutely delicious - so much so that we bought a bunch for friends in Cleveland who can't find anything comparable there. The quality of the food combined with Jorge's outstanding service made it a truly enjoyable experience. We can't say enough good things about Pepe's Tamales and highly recommend them to anyone in the area!

The tamales were over priced for mid food. I had the red pork ones and they weren't great at all.

The location on Mesa was not what I expected these to taste like. Its no longer there so maybe that's why? The nice ladies even gave me a look of unsurety.

I went to Pepe's Tamala's and received the best experience. The owner was kind and friendly. I purchased the pork and chicken tamales. The tamales were moist and full of meat. I have been purchasing tamales from Pepe's Tamales since 1991. I still receive the same excellent service. Pepe's is a hidden gym.
