NMSU Grill at the golf course is hit and miss. It is either fantastic - or beyond deplorable. When the slender young guys are running the show - the food is quick and good. Ambiance is upbeat and good vibe overall. However....When the heavy duty girl and the guy with the glasses (cook) are there, they is NO service. These two ignore customers and go back into the back kitchen and hide till customers leave. Vibe is hostile. AVOID.

Started out as a lovely evening visiting my parents. I am a 2008 alumn. Came into town for a short visit and the bar tending service was below par. the attitude and service turned very negative quickly...walked in to order drinks for myself and my parents. It was a very slooooow night. Ordered three drinks and clearly pointed out my parents. Bar tender poured four after I reiterated several times we wanted three. When she set down the fourth I communicated that we only wanted three and proceeded to argue with me that the fourth was for my father(whom i had already ordered for). It was very aggravating and ruined a night that would have otherwise been care free and relaxing. Food was typical bar food. There arent a lot of great restaurant options in las cruces so we were expecting to go and have a nice evening, enjoy the sunset and catch up. Instead, we got servers who came over and proceeded to argue with what the problem was. the place has great views, but if they could step up the service and be more "friendly" it would go a long way. Maybe the place would then be busier than the crowd that they are currently getting. my family and I will not be returning.

Six of us decided to dine at the New Mexico State University Bar & Grille this evening. Since it was Wing Wednesday, three of us had the chicken wings and three of us had one of their burgers with fries. Everyone enjoyed their wings, and the burgers were very good. I had the Green chile cheeseburger which was excellent. The burger was definitely hand made and the fries seemed to be fresh cut. Service was very good and the atmosphere was nice.

I have eaten here in the past. Their burgers are what you would expect from a golf course bar and grill. Unfortunately, we had a party of 8 and it was too much. One of our group had the specialty hot dog and fries - cold.... Today I decided to try their Mexican food, they are in Las Cruces, so this should have been a good choice. I had the huevos rancheros with green chile and they were AWFUL. All a function of the sauce. It tasted like mostly pureed unions with garlic and a green color. To have chile that tasted this bad in southern New Mexico is a real shame. Service was mediocre at best, my iced tea was never refilled. Maybe with enough beer this would have seemed acceptable.

This course is phenomenal. However, the service and quality of the food at this bar and grille is compared to 3 putting for triple bogey. The service was slower than my grandpa playing a par 3. I ordered my wrap 10 minutes before going in to pay and get it and the cook and cashier were as slow as a granny driving on I-10. There was absolutely no one in the place and they still didn't have my wrap done. 30 minutes later than when they said it would be ready. Very disappointed because I was shooting -2 and ended up bogeying two in a row.
