I use Southwest Disposal, now owned by Mesilla Valley Disposal. Now, those of us who live in the county have only one option for garbage pickup, and they really take advantage of the fact that we have no choice. Terrible customer service. I cannot access my bill online so I asked for a paper bill. one month I got the bill a day before it was due (they blamed the post office) then this month I didn't get a bill at all. No one there is very helpful, and they don't seem to care whether or not I receive a bill, but they expect payment. At least now they answer the phone. When I first moved here they didn't respond to calls to start service for over a month.

Terrible service. Might come at 5am or 5pm. They are rude when asked why their service is so poor.Unfortunately they have a monopoly.

This company is supposed to remove the trash, not be it. They were over a week late bringing a dumpster, then when they had to exchange it, left me without a dumpster for a week. These flies are no joke and they won't even give me a credit for the time I've been without their service. There are other waste removal services. Don't use Mesilla Valley Disposal for any reason, unless you want the trash to sit there and rot.

Generally, trash service is something that is pretty seamless, and I don't have to even think or bother with it. Back when we were serviced by Miles Hauling Service, that was the case. They were courteous and if we had an extra bag or two that didn't fit in the bin, they would kindly take it and dump it. Ever since Mesilla Valley Disposal absorbed Miles, the service and friendliness has decreased in quality. They are happy to leave trash for the following week. Today, my 12 year old son went outside to assist with the 2 extra bags that we had to dump. He was going to load them into the bin after the initial dump so the driver could just do a second dump, without having to exit the vehicle. The driver got out and told my son he would not take the trash. We did it this way so that it would stack high and risk dropping and spilling into the street. Or leaving the bags behind the trash can because in the past, they just leave them. I went outside to see what the driver was saying to my son and he told me "No." Per company policy he would not take the 2 bags and that it would have to wait until next week and that I need to talk to the office if I wanted him to take the bags. So he drove off, leaving the trash behind. I called the office and the girl on the phone told me that was policy, and I would have to hold onto my trash for an additional week. I told her that was seriously crazy. I don't mind paying an extra fee or whatever, and I understand the policy to call ahead of time to notify them, but I mean, couldn't they have atleast educated me, done the additional 2 bags either as a courtesy or even at an additional cost so that I'm not stuck with trash that contains food and other things for a whole week? She argued with me about it and was not friendly, courteous, or remotely concerned with my inquiry. Happy to talk over me, she basically said I could cancel my services if I was unhappy. Really? Do better guys. I requested a call back from the owner to discuss this situation, and after that, they begrudgingly sent the driver back to collect. I think they could have saved time and some fuel by being courteous in the first place. I'm awaiting a call back from the owner, and hopefully we can resolve this. Educate, but remain courteous. You are in the service business, after all. Considering to switching to Southwest Disposal, who is more affordable in my area, especially since MVD just announced a rate hike beginning next month.
