I've been looking for a Thai restaurant in the area and happened to find Mekong Thai when my husband and I were driving around one evening. We both wanted to try their food since it's hard to find Thai establishments out here in El Paso. I'm from SoCal and there were plenty of options where I lived.Flame Thai is a pretty big restaurant when you walk in. They have plenty of seating for their customers which is nice. The decor is very sparse and two out of the 3 tv screens up at the front were not working. They allowed us to pick where we wanted to sit and we chose one of the booths. Right away I noticed part of the crown molding on the wall was missing. The overall visual appeal of the restaurant could use some tlc or a whole new revamp. For the positives: our waiter was friendly and attentive. He came to check up on us a couple times throughout our meal which was nice. Their Thai tea came in pretty big glasses and tasted good! Tasted like the bottled Thai tea I used to get from the market. I did like their crab Rangoon for appetizer, it was fried perfectly and the sauce for dipping was tasty! I also ordered the red curry and requested extra curry sauce. The portion was huge and enough for two people. They also got the spice level perfectly. The negatives were the beef bowl my husband ordered. He said it was very bland and had virtually no flavor. It also looked more like a salad bowl with how much lettuce they filled it with. The biggest disappointment was their pad Thai. That is one of my favorite Thai dishes and they managed to mess it up. For some reason it tasted more like sweet and sour noodles rather than pad Thai. I did not taste any fish sauce at all in the dish. It make me think of orange chicken sauce mixed with rice noodles. Not very tasty at all and I was left disappointed. Pad Thai is one of the most common dishes you find at Thai restaurants so I'm not sure how they managed to screw it up so badly.Lastly, the price of everything was over $80. Which both my husband and I did not think was worth the quality of food we got. Very expensive for subpar dishes. Not even the crab Rangoon or red curry could make it worth the price. We most likely would not return but I'm glad the whole meal wasn't a busy. They had a couple decent dishes but the ones they messed up just couldn't justify the price paid.

Came here for lunch with my family on Father's Day. It's more of an Asian fusion restaurant serving some Thai and Chinese dishes. It's far from San Diego's cuisine that's for sure!My expectations weren't too high after reading the reviews, but I've been craving Thai and wanted to see for myself. I ordered Pad Thai shrimp and surprisingly it wasn't too bad. Not well enough to cause me to return though. My kids ordered orange chicken dishes and a chicken nugget + fries dish. The kids raves about the orange chicken. They're also big Panda Express fans. The chicken nuggets were comparable to McDonalds and the fries were meh. Hubby ordered chicken fried rice and didn't like it at all. My daughter tried a peach boba drink and liked it. I really wanted to try one of their limeades they had on the menu, but apparently they don't serve limeade. Darn. That really sounded refreshing. We won't be back, but glad we tried it any way.

We went by the restaurant on Friday about 11:30, the lights were off and the phone was not answered. Is the restaurant permanently closed?

I really hate leaving bad reviews but the reason I give this place 3 stars is solely for the food. It was not up to par. I've been spoiled by California Thai food restaurants and so far I have yet to find a good spot in El Paso since moving here. I picked up my food to go and honestly both noodle dishes were not that good. They really had no flavor at all... typically Thai food has flavor and spice and this place was missing both. It's unfortunate but I don't recommend this place if you enjoy Thai food. Hope my food pics help make your decision.

The place is small and quiet. My mom and I have very different tastes. This place worked out for both of us. They have vegan options (like 6 options). I don't know what kind of rice they used, but it was not the best. I ordered an eggplant dish which was good. My mom ordered a green curry, which did not look as viscous as I expected it to look, but she liked it.

We love Thai food! It is always our go to Take-out option. When it came to Mekong Thai we had high hopes. They delivered on the pad Thai and lumpia rolls. However, the crab fried rice was not what we expected. When reading the menu you think chunks of crab (especially for the price). The rice had a very intense crabby flavor and it was more like shredded pieces throughout (that you couldn't see). We love crab, but the flavor even for us was fishy/overwhelming. Drunken noodle is always my favorite Thai entree. I'm not sure what is going on with the drunken noodles form here, but I felt more like I was eating dry chicken noodle soup. It lacked flavor, heat, and the right noodle. They deliver on the freshness and presentation, but it wouldn't be my go to for traditional Thai entrees most people love!

You guys I did it! I found a GREAT place to get pad Thai!!! We got the spring rolls, pad Thai and brisket pho. Everything was HUGE portions, so tasty and the spring rolls were fresh and delicious. The service was amazing. The girl working the front was so sweet and helpful. I am so happy we stumbled upon this place on our way to a different restaurant. This was so much better than where we were planning on going!

Good food, a little overpriced for what you get. They need to fix the inside up as well.
