Best southern style restaurant in El Paso! This has been mine & my husbands go-to place during the last few months. You cannot go wrong with any dishes. The customer service & food qualify is top notch. Location is right behind the Gordibuena on Mesa street. The employees are super helpful and happy to share recommendations for those that are a bit indecisive like me. They were recently sweet enough to make a big order for my family on Super Bowl Sunday. *Helpful Hint: to avoid a wait time call them by phone and place your order & pay ahead of time. Here is the list of our favorite entrees & sides: Chicken breast, Oxtail dinner, Meatloaf, Green Beans, Black eye peas, Mac and Cheese, Potato Salad, Candied Yams, and last but not least the Peach Cobbler. Additionally their frozen drinks and strong and delicious. So glad to have this great addition in El Paso and cannot wait to continue ordering food from them. If you have not, you have got to check them out asap.

**edit to add I'm featuring Black-owned businesses for Black History Month, as someone asked why it matters**Another Black-owned small business here in El Paso, MD305 Soulfood & ToGo Drinks, serves up some great soul food. I saw them as I was pulling out of Ray's Philly Steaks and was curious as I thought it was maybe Cuban food since 305 is an area code in Miami Dade. I was so full, but was excited to try some of their offerings. The lady behind the counter was so sweet and helpful as I really wanted to try the shrimp and fried okra. She ended up helping me order a kid's meal since it comes with okra as a side. All their meals sounded good and are priced well.Well, that's a kid's portion and it's pretty generous. It comes with a bomb sauce called MD305 (in mild or hot); I got mild since I'm a wimp. The breading was light and so full of flavor. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and doused with the same awesome seasoning. The okra was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, just how I like it. I started loving fried okra after living in Houston. They made it better here than anywhere I've tried in Houston. I'd come back just for those fried okra. I'm excited to come back and try other things here, especially the alcoholic smoothies! It was too cold but I bet it's heaven in the summer heat. The place is kinda hidden behind a Gorditas restaurant, but there's plenty of parking, so come out and #supportlocal MD305 Soulfood & ToGo Drinks4126 N Mesa St Suite F & G, El Paso, TX 79902https://maps.app.goo.gl/8f4keppsmP3eXDzPA

This is the absolute hidden gem in El Paso for "phenomenal" soul food. Three elements stuck out to me. 1) Wold class customer service-when I called their business I was greeted politely and sincerely. Having never ate here before, I was guided through the menu, given descriptions of the items I had in mind and was provided with thoughtful recommendations. 2) Everything for sure is homemade, each dinner plate comes with two sides and the portions are very generous. As a soul food lover, my wife and I decided two mix our sides to try four different things. We got the black eye peas, unique, delicious, something I could crave to eat alone every day. The mac and cheese was baked and a inch and a half thick, it paired beautifully. My main course was the oxtail perfectly cooked, thick, savory, and fell off the bone. I love to cook oxtail, and I need their recipe. Finger licking good. My wife's plate, we love meatloaf and was a bit shocked it was on the menu. We where not disappointed, fresh, deliciousness and a genuinely different recipe than I have ever had before. Yum. She had the green beans that where tasty well seasoned. Now, the holy grail of sides...the YAMS! The best yams that I have ever had. With a hint of marshmallow, sweetness and great portion. Reminds me of thanksgiving. A must if you get a side. 3) A family run business unique from anything else in El Paso. This is exactly what the community needs with a great level of diversity and quality. It will be difficult not to try everything on the menu. Reminds me of my grandmothers cooking. A great experience I look forward to dining in next time to try one of their mixed drinks and the comfort of knowing I am getting a totally unique and delicious meal that separates itself from any other place in a beautiful way. Go! Explore the menu and I hope anyone can take my recommendations for a delicious family owned experience of phenomenal food of great quality at a great price point. I can't wait to go back again. Enjoy y'all!

Yelp brought me here but the food and service will bring me back. It took a while because they cooked it up after you order but it was worth the wait. Somewhere between the Caribbean and down home they making it happen. Make sure to take home a peach cobbler for later.

This did not taste like authentic soul food to me. I was disappointed. The catfish didn't even taste like catfish and the breading tasted strange.

Service was great 15/10Food was 5/10. The temperature of the food varied at various bites. The tangy bbq tasted like the honey mustard and the wings were friend too hard. Although she did say Wednesday the food are fresher, I went on a Sunday. Drinks 4/10. Really good! But for the price you can't taste or tell there was alcohol. Had a 32 ounce and couldn't tell any alcohol was in them.

Best soul food I've had in Texas so far. I lived in Houston and could've find any to my liking. I had half and half pork chop with Mac and cheese and yams. The grill pork chop was good just wish the fried one had a little more crunch. I'm from the South Carolina so I was happy for the baked Mac and cheese. I asked if the yams was can yams and the cashier said no, but to me, the yams was can yams but it was ok. The tea was a little too sweet but at least I could've put water in the cup to refill the tea. Overall the food was good but it did give me gathering vibes...like bring a dish from the house and put it in the oven to keep warm. I just wanted the aroma of some food cooking in the back and it's about to be popping.
