Matteo’s - Downtown

The service was friendly. The restaurant was clean. The overall taste of food was not that great. There was not much flavor for the enchilada, the horchata was bland, and the salsa could have been better. Great place for a college town, not for a place to look for. The queso tasted as it came out of a can.

The outdoor advertising hooked us, we would not have stopped if not for the Grinch special. Definitely make a stop here if you can for some tasty drinks. There are several large jugs of premade drinks that all look excellent, we tried the blue one (pineapple coconut), Grinch Christmas drink (matcha, peppermint), and the chia cucumber limeade. They have a good menu as well that we didn't try, but you order whatever you want then seat yourself. Limeade - my favorite by far, *very* flavorful. The kids liked it ok, I would have it everyday forever.Grinch - this was the family fave. To me it tasted like a peppermint milkshake, not any matcha flavor. Blue- I liked it a lot, everyone else liked it ok, they said it was too sweet. I thought it tasted exactly like what it was - pineapple and coconut, and I typically do not like sweet things. Very refreshing for a quick stop, there are some outdoor seats for a nice day. Good find.

The green chile chicken enchiladas were pretty good. There are better places in town, but I got 20% off from doordash, so it was worth it. The beans and rice were really good. They make some of the best Spanish rice. The carne asada tacos were also really good. Once again, there are better places in town, but if you get a discount, then Matteo's is a good choice.

My family and I decided to try Matteo's downtown on Saturday after checking out the Las Cruces Farmer's Market. My dad had the red enchilada plate, my mom and Abuela both had the carne asada torta, and I had the green chile chicken enchilada plate. We all loved the food. The green chicken enchilada were spicy and flavorful. The red enchiladas were well balanced and spicy. My mom and Abuela both loved the carne asada and the telera bread which was soft and fluffy. Great portions and reasonable prices. Highly recommend checking this place out if you are in the Las Cruces area or in the Upper Valley in El Paso.

They raised their prices AGAIN. Now the only items on their menu under ten dollars are the small burritos. Prices are nearly double the cost of what they were a couple years ago when this location opened. No thanks. not coming back.

We were only in town for a few days and each time we tried to eat at this restaurant they were closed outside of their business hours posted online. This was labor day weekend and even after holiday "hours" they still were not open when their regular business hours online said they were. Please update your online presence.

Trendy but casual Mexican restaurant in downtown Las Cruces, with indoor and patio seating. The menu offers many options, individually or as plates with rice and beans. New Mexican hatch chiles are featured as well.We ordered the Hatch Green Chile Enchiladas, Chicken Flautas, and Carne Asada tacos. All were excellent, and left us full for the price. We will be back.

Food is fantastic, great prices. The blasting Christian music is a huge turnoff, especially in the dining room. Outside was a little better but still weird.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Juicy succulent flavorful carne asada tacos. Fast friendly service. These tacos are happiness in a little tortilla. Can't wait to come back and try more of the menu! MATTEO'S!!!!
