Love their murals. Excellent fruit and meat selection. Their fresh Mata's flour tortillas are a must to buy. The munster cheese is the cheapest and tastiest you will find all El Paso.

Tortillas. Tortillas. Tortillas. And the meat market and pastries looks legit but I was focused on one thing tortillas. Friendly checkers, great selection of basics and specialty items.

Best tortillas in El Paso. Always crowded and there isn't any English spoken (that should be a hint it's going to be great). Fresh salsas/chiles are awesome too. They make tortillas fresh in the morning and sell them as fast as they're made. I go here whenever I'm in the area. My command of Spanish is OK but everyone is always super friendly and helpful despite this. Just a great little spot.

This stores is small with a very old and dirty building. The meat Dept looks disgusting. The management is hyper suspicious of everyone and tape your belongs when you enter the store. I ordered by Yelp to put a star, the star to this review is meaningless.

Our new in-laws brought us here for tortillas that are so fresh and hot that there's a posted warning sign - be sure the package of tortillas doesn't burn your child or melt the other food in your shopping cart. Flaky and sugary pastries. Freshly cut meats. Good prices for fresh produce. Parking attendant helps you navigate the narrow spaces in the adjacent parking lot, so feel free to give him a tip. Look for the wall of photos above the checkout register of people who were shoplifting - the "cheese robbers".

Mata's is Ok when it comes to prices, if you are broke, this is the best place to find cheap produce, eggs, milk, tortillas, bread and medium grade meat but the quality is not the best. The meat department uses processed frozen boxed meat, not fresh, but ok for the price. The biggest downside is that the place is tiny, crammed all the time, tiny parking lot that is always full, and expect long lines at the 2 check out counters. The produce prices are good, but for good meat go 2 blocks down to Silva's.
