Mama Tamales

Mama's is still my favorite Mexican food restaurant. I've been a proud customer for 1 year, and I cannot get enough of this place.I tried the green creamy soupy tacos for the first time today and I'm absolutely blown away. So freakin' tasty!!The family who owns this place is great. Everything about Mama's is perfect

Best soupy tacos ever; puts Chico's tacos to shame. Food is delicious and served quickly. Great spot for lunch.

I have never heard of this dish before but it was excellent! It's called Soupy Taco. I ordered the half order of creamy and the original with one chicken and one beef! It was delicious and savory and surprisingly good. The salsa and chips here are also excellent! It is a small place with the feel of your mom's kitchen table. The staff was wonderful. I am glad I got to try it and I will try this again.

I love everything about this place. It is nestled in a strip mall on N Lee Trevino, but don't let the book cover fool you. Even after entering the restaurant, it is unpretentious and simple, but the food, oh the food... Full flavored and tasty! From the freshly fried corn tortilla chips and salsa, to the super flavorful and healthy portioned deserts, it is all flavor, flavor, flavor! They did not earn the best of El Paso Mexican food by just throwing sauce on tortillas and calling them enchiladas, they put a little down home mojo and love into their food as evidenced by the crowds that gather every day at lunch. The "Soupy Tacos" come with the option of having creamy, chipotle, red and green chili sauces and are out of this world. The green chicken enchiladas are wonderful creamy goodness on a plate. The steak tacos and brisket tacos are excellent with the option to having the corn tortillas soft, lightly fried or crunchy. The "Teamonade" (tea/lemonade) is the drink to have and is unforgettable.I could go on and on about the superlative menu items, but I think you should go and venture over to Mama Tamales (aka Mamas Cocina Mexicana) and experience the goodness for yourself. Gaby and her staff are wonderful, super friendly, accommodating and just all around great people! So stop on by for a little bit of homemade Mexican goodness!

I can only vouch for the enchiladas as that's the only thing I ever get here but man does this place have some great enchiladas! Every time I come to El Paso, I make sure to stop here to get their green shredded chicken enchiladas! The sauce is what makes the dish for me! Its light, flavorful and is wonderful mixed in with their rice as well! Service is great, atmosphere is nice, oh and the salsa that comes with the chips actually has some flavor and a little bit of bite to it. Portion size and price is also perfectOverall a solid 3 stars

Had at a party. Reheated well, but corn vegan boring, pork OK but spicy and mole good. Nothing special and not worth the trip. Filling to masa ratio low.

Simply amazing.!!! Will definitely come back. I was craving green chicken enchiladas. And WOW they were so good. Hit the spot!!

On 8/6 I was wanting something different so I opened up my yelp and starting exploring. I found this wonderful place that has been there for over 8 years. 8 years! I have been to this shopping strip over a million times and had never seen this wonderful place. The decor made me feel like I was visiting my grandmother. Super clean! The food is EXCELLENT! I tried the soupy tacos and my wife ate the enchiladas. Of course I tried them as well and was blown away. They tasted just like my mom's. The service was also wonderful very nice ladies made us feel at home. I will definitely tell all my friends and family about this hidden treasure on the east side of town.

The staff is very friendly I'll give them that. The tortilla soup was different and very delicious, however, my main dish. Green cheese enchiladas wasn't anything good to eat. There may be other items on the menu that they are very good at. But I was very disappointed with a bland taste. Wouldn't recommend going nor will you see me back. Other better options in the area.
