Absolutely delightful experience every time I go. They always have what I need, it's cheaper than Walmart, and it rarely feels crowded. I do miss the old floors, though. Made the place smell nice.

This Lowe's carries the typical Lowe's fare that they are known for - such as the preferred New Mexican produce and meats. They also have a lot of Mexican spices and snacks, including dried shrimp in the shell. You can get fantastic deals like 2 1/2 dozen eggs for just over $3 and fresh tropical fruit. However, do not expect a lot of seafood or gluten free foods. It's just not their specialty. The store is clean but older and dingy. The staff is nice but they don't really watch where they are going and rush around. Customer service isn't really big on their priority list - they are more task oriented. They do have a lot of delicious Mexican pastries - including pumpkin empanadas! Definitely check out their frozen dessert section as well. They have freshly made and then frozen pies that are ready to bake and serve. They are always a hit. The store is close to the college and great for a budget shopper!

This Lowe's Foods is smaller than the other location. The supermarket has fresh produce and meat. However, it's not for the health nut with lots of junk food and frozen foods

Lowes Foods is a local grocer, not a hardware store. The store manager Alonzo Burciaga took it upon himself to say no backpacks allowed in the store. You are told to drop off your bags with customer service like a child when entering the store. They offer no liability for any items lost or stolen while in the stores custody. Your just expected to leave it behind a counter and hope everything is there when you get done shopping. He said no backpacks for the "safety of his employees", while most places would actually say it prevents theft. When asked if there was a corporate policy he declined and said it was a "store policy". When asked to see store policy documentation he referred me to a printed sheet of paper next to the front entrance, I have also posted that image to google. This paper is just something anyone could have printed, like a notice you see taped on a bathroom door when it's out of order. Nothing official. Since he is the store manager, I'll assume its his policy but he continued to tell me it was "store policy." I actually expected to be show a binder with POLICIES employees are expected to follow, but he insisted the sign says everything. I've been shopping here for the last 18 months, and have never had an issue before. When I declined to leave my bag he had a security officer follow me around the store while I did my shopping. Yes, the poor guy actually walked behind me and parked himself about 5 feet away while I walked the store. So I'm left to wonder, was this to prevent me from stealing or was it all about "the safety of his employees" he had stated earlier.I will be contacting corporate to see what LOWES official stance is. I used to be able to bring in a backpack, but now I'm seen as a criminal upon entering the store; needing a security guard to follow behind me while I shop at the managers request. For argument sake I'll explain why I even had a backpack. I'm a cyclist who sees no need for a vehicle when I live less than 3 miles from any store I shop at. I use a hydration pack (Camel Bak) to carry keys, wallet, spare tube, pump, U-Lock and cable. While my bike is secured outside I also carry my sport bottles inside my pack. Instead of using plastic store bags, I also pack in my few groceries inside upon leaving.I assume this "store policy" also includes Totes, purses, satchels and other product carrying devices, but was unable to get any clarification from the manager. As for the store its average. Everything is overpriced. Only items less costly are produce. I'm a vegetarian so that's what I come for.I'll try to get the sign removed. If I'm unsuccessful I'll shop elsewhere. I try to support local businesses but If they make it difficult for me to shop here, competitors are just down the road.I should also mention...Nearby Albertsons is also over priced, but they offer a fresh selection of produce and meat along with seafoods. The best prices for anything else is at walmart about 2 miles down the road. When you factor in local competitor price match, they are hard to resist.UPDATE:I called corporate human resources. I was told stores are independently owned. So the owner is the one who can restrict backpacks if (s)he chooses. I will no longer be shopping at this particular Lowes Foods from this point on. I will however pass by every wednesday for a copy of weekly sales and take it to Walmart for price match.

I'm not sure how to describe this place? Scarey? Junky? Or just plain bad? I guess the products themselves are ok as many of them are packaged goods, but the produce is mediocre (at best). Didn't try the meats. This place is generally scarey with a very seedy looking element around. The store itself is on the low-end of discount grocery store which is saying a lot. Selection is limited in many areas and the prices are ok.The parking lot also had a lot of folks loitering without any discernable reason.Yeah, I know... I'm judging a lot just by looks, but when I feel unsafe at a place, I won't stick around to investigate.

This store has a little bit of everything. If you are looking for a specialty item, go somewhere else, but if you have a short grocery list and on a budget, this is the place to be! Great, friendly service, and security that walks around the parking lot as well as inside the store.I would rather shop here than any large retail store like Wal-Mart. Great values!

I love this place for fresh produce at a good price. It is getting considerable competition from the new Sprouts, but often Lowes prices are lower. It just depends what part of town I'm in at the time and what i'm cooking.

Obviously, the previous reviewer has not been inside the store in recent years as they have done a a lot to change the look of the store, the produce is is better than it has been in the past which could be accounted to distributors. The floors are now carpeted and the entire interior and exterior has been redone. If the previous reviewer had taken the time to notice his surroundings he would have noticed that located within the same shopping area is a Beauty school where students often hangout in the parking lot of the shopping mall eating, talking with each other, smoking, and everything else you would find on an educational campus. My opinion is that the original reviewer is threatened by individuals of a lower economic status than his own and therefore judges people by the way they look and nothing more.Shane EvansLas Cruces, NM

Thank the stars that the older part of Las Cruces isn't a total food-desert. Lowe's is within walking distance of a large part of town that houses NMSU students and working-class locals. It's a discount grocery, so a lot of the selection is of the cheaply produced off-brand-type, with perhaps little to offer the gluten-free, vegan, or organically concerned shopper. The produce generally needs to be eaten or cooked within a day or two of purchase. The shopping center that houses Lowe's is older, too--there is an inescapably odd smell to the store that could either add character or detract from the allure of convenient shopping. The strip also contains a small bar, restaurant, and an adjacent ice cream joint, so I beg to differ with the previous reviewer regarding possible reasons to loiter. The only people I've seen at Lowe's are tired, working folk or students. It's possible that the "seedy" element just shops on different days than I do.
