Low prices, good eats, clean location that has a pretty consistent flow of customers from the East Mesa area. The food was pretty good. I had the green chile burrito...I love what they did with the meat. For a dish that is very simple, it must be the marinade or the sauce that really made this stand out to me. Surprisingly, it was the ice cold lettuce and avocado garnish on the side that really impressed me. It made the whole meal refreshing which was great because it was a hot night. We also got the large flauta for my son and the green beef (made with ground beef) enchiladas combo with beans and rice complete with the egg on top. These dishes were okay in my book. They open at 7 am every morning and they serve breakfast...can't wait to try it. This restaurant is pretty popular in Las Cruces as this is their 3rd location in town.

Went for the first time today. The waitress was pretty bad. Ordered up at the ordering station and sat down. The waitress brought over a try with drinks and chips and salsa and slapped it on the table and walked away. We passed out the drinks and tried the chips and salsa. The salsa was bland with no flavor. The waitress brought my food and my youngest sons food. Everyone else got to sit and wait for about 10 minutes while I had my food in front of me. My son finished his quesadilla before the other food came out. The other food came out finally and we started to eat. The green chili had no flavor and was very watery. The rice was ok. The beans were bland. I drank my sweet tea and the waitress asked if I needed a refill. Unsweetened tea is free refills and the sweetened tea costs you an extra $1.50. Nickle and diming much?!The atmosphere was ok. The table next to us made me feel like we were in the movie deliverance with the inbred hillbilly talk. Lots of loud yelling "F^#& that cowrider momma!"Hmmm.. wont be going back here. Worried they might kill me and try and wear my skin as a coat!

We've eaten at Los Compas going on 20 years now. Unfortunately, they are not consistent and their food largely depends on the cook at the time. At first I didn't care for their food, the Rellenos were flat, greasy and barely had any cheese in them. As time went on, their Rellenos improved a bit. At one time, their enchiladas were to die for - both the red sauce and the green sauce were spectacular. At one time they had really good burritos as well. But the last few times we were there they were nasty. So how the food will be is a hit or a miss. Worth the risk every once in awhile, but what was once our favorite Mexican food, just isn't anymore. Their breakfast platter used to be the best deal in town, now it is overpriced for what you get. They don't know how to scramble eggs (that is one thing, and the ONLY thing that has been consistent), and every single time (100% of the time, seriously) we would order them scrambled and they came fried. Too bad their "golden era" was bout 10 yrs ago.UPDATE: 11/2017:Its been a few months since we had food here. We always get "take out". Their prices have sky rocketed through the roof. Example: Enchilada plate with a couple of spoonfuls of rice and beans, over $9. The enchiladas (red) were fantastic though. Compare to Si Senor Express, where you get the enchiladas with a decent amount of rice and beans, plus a sopaipilla, four salsas and chips for just over $7. The Si Senor enchiladas were not quite as good, but still... Los Compas has become more of a once in a great while treat rather than a practical place to go. Most of the time the expense just isn't worth it, and Si Senors is good, just not tdf. Los Compas breakfasts used to be the best deal in town, now it is one of the, if not the, most expensive. We don't do their breakfasts anymore.

This place reminded me of Don Fidencios in Silver City, NM, You walk in, there's a menu board full of lots of different mexican dishes you can have, all at very good prices. I get the feeling Los Compas sees a lot of takeout business around lunchtime, though there are plenty of tables to sit at.I went with a beef chimichanga with extra green sauce. It was perfectly fried and stuffed with lots of marinated shredded beef. It is a meal that will definitely stick to your ribs. Besides the usual coke products, they also serve an excellent Horchata. There are lots of other menu items I would like to try the next time I am in Las Cruces. Highly recommended if you want a quick bite of some good mexican food.

We live close by and are regulars. Decent, predictable (in the best way), great service. Enchiladas, huevos rancheros, sopapilla compuestas, flautas, fajitas, con carnes red and green. I suggest the homemade empanadas and burritos.

The Los compas here on Highway 70 is by far the worst Mexican restaurant I've ever been to they can never seem to get your burrito plate ready or done right their card reader is constantly rejecting people's credit cards order the chicharrones burrito play today only to receive the chicharrones burrito then was told Once you walk out they could not help you my advice stay away from the one here on Highway 70.

The food is not very good here. I'm not sure if this is the only Mexican food restaurant the other reviewers have eaten at but the food is not very good here. Starting the with chips and salsa the chips are bland and the salsa is entirely too spicy with not much flavor and I love spice. The tortillas are not very good I could get better tortillas at Walmart to me the tortillas make or break a Mexican food restaurant. The carne asada lacked flavor and was very basic and extremely dry. There was no cilantro, lime, cheese or salsa available to help with the lack of flavor and dryness of the carne asada tacos.

CASUAL CAFE WITH MOSTLY PEDESTRAIN NEW MEX FOODThis Los Compas on Bataan is ranked around twenty-ninth (29)th on the 2018 Mr. Sensitive list of Mexican food restaurants in the area. This unpretentious cafe is actually a little nicer inside than you might think upon driving by. It has about 15-20 tables situated in two rooms. It is bright inside and appears clean and well managed by the conscientious ladies who run it. It is perfectly fine for casual dining. You order at the counter from a large board overhead. The service is friendly and efficient. They will bring the food to your table. The menu is quintessential New Mex cuisine. The chips I was served on my first visit were ok, nothing special. The salsa was high on the heat with pretty good flavor. But, the salsa was VERY, VERY WATERY! Not so good. I ordered their enchilada plate which came with the usual refried beans and rice. The rice was fairly good and the beans sort of the usual. The corn rolled enchiladas had a nice corn flavor and were covered with green chile sauce. The shredded chicken did not have much flavor or seasoning. The chile sauce was ok but not great. Decent enough enchiladas but certainly nothing to write home about. I also sampled their red chile con carne smothered burrito. It contained a little refried beans and potato with pork simmered in chile sauce. The pork was ok but did not seem to have a robust flavor. The burrito as a whole was good but not outstanding. One morning I ordered the huevos rancheros with green chile. The chips were sub-par not being fresh. Their heated salsa was also low on flavor. The main course was served in a specially shaped serving dish and the beans and rice served to the side of the eggs! A thin tortilla was underneath the eggs and chile. The chile and the eggs had no seasoning....no salt. I actually had to add salt and black pepper to the meal to get any flavor. Overall, this was a mediocre performance. Not the stuff of legend. What to expect if you go: A decent enough casual place with friendly service, but food that is ok but not really that good. This is the usual verdict for the Los Compas restaurants.....ok but not great food. Restaurant rating = THREE-AND-A-QUARTER STARS....meaning, very average. Nothing inspirational found here.

Horrible experience paid 40 dollars for 4 bean burritos and 2 disgusting pozoles add to the disgustingness watching my wife pull a hair from her mouth as she tastes the pozole I wouldn't even feed that to my dogs. This is poor workmanship whoever is in charge should be held accountable for the grossness
