I contacted this attorney when I knew I was getting served on a matter. The office took my $250 consult fee and couldn't tell me when the attorney would call but said he would. He did! Same day! It was a 30 min consult but the Attorney wanted to see paperwork first. He asked that I upload the documents into their client portal and to call him back. He even gave me his number. That was definitely cool. We talked for 12 minutes so he said I could call him back with no extra charge. At this moment I LOVE this lawyer. The following week I did as I was told and uploaded the documents so he could see. I texted instead of called him so that he'd know the documents were there. I called his office also to tell his staff I needed a call back, I didn't want him to miss my text. I got deployed for the inauguration and hadn't heard from the office or him. My answer was due on the following Monday and I desperately called his office back. He finally called. I had interviewed 3 attorneys and although I did like the other attorneys, my intention was to hire this one because I liked his confidence. My perception of him changed on our final call. I guess he thought I didn't want to pay him, he kept alluding that I wanted him to do work and he wasn't retained. Although true, I never had an opportunity to retain him because his staff nor him ever called me. And I had a text to prove I asked him for a call back. He didn't want to acknowledge that his office dropped the ball. Or take responsibility. That was a turn off. I definitely see how some reviews perceive him as rude. He's just very direct. Definitely my fault for not going else where after the first week of not getting a call back. But since I never got the full 30 min paid consult and he asked that I call him back,I did that. Overall, I will say, he's busy. He definitely doesn't remember what your conversation was. He is forthcoming about not being a family law attorney. He actually did offer to take my case the day of and worked out a sweet arrangement but luckily forme the case had been closed. His first Impression is perfect! Ending kinda harsh. I say if you need TLC he probably isn't the right attorney for you.

As I sit in his office I'm writing this. Mr Ortiz is an ambulance chaser, he does care about his client's. He try's to rush things ONLY and I repeat ONLY to get HIS money. Him and his staff have done nothing for my husband's case. My husband has done all the leg work for his case. They want him to be done with his treatment when he is still hurt with 3 blow discs in his back. He is never available to take call's or return them. It takes day's for his office to do any or send paper work. He is rude and pig headed! His staff is nothing but young lady's that have no clue on they are doing and no nothing of the law! If I could I would give him no star's but one is the lowest it will go.

This attorney was the worst when they accused me of a false crime, he wanted to charge me for every charge and didn't show up or cared when they arrested me and that is because I paid all my fees with him. I went with Justin Underwood, and we didn't even go to court, and they released me and found all the charges being false. I wouldn't recommend this attorney to anyone. He kept on looking for extra things to charge me.

He was horrible and cocky. I only had to speak with him over the phone to tell he was unprofessional after he started cussing. He assumes on your cases and does not let you speak or explain. The only thing he knew about me was how much he was going to charge. Don't waste your money on this man-child and save your breath for a real profesional.

I chose Mr. Ortiz because I saw the amazing reviews. I called him for a consult on child custody and he assured me he would be able to take on my case and was confident that it would be a quick one to get done. Biggest mistake. This was back in February 2021. I had my final hearing in august 2022 and The only thing he has done was made me pay so much more in child support and visitation with my child when I have never put my child in any harm or have done anything to not have custody. My child's father had domestics and has done so many things. I had what I thought was great evidence and we talked about using that but when it came to court he switched up and used something different which made my argument weak. I trusted him. This was for my child. This was important to me and now I have zero confidence in him. I thought he was very unprofessional. He would be late and argue in court. I wish I could take back the $8000 I spent on him and go somewhere else. Next year I'm going to hire a different lawyer and go back to court and hopefully the outcome will be different.

Two years ago an incident occurred over the weekend that required I speak to lawyer. I contacted Rubens office first thing Monday morning. Not only did someone from his office answer the phone, they were able to schedule me in for an initial consultation the same day. A few days later I was able to get documents emailed to Ruben and once again an appointment was scheduled for a one-on-one, in-person consultation with Ruben. He was both thorough and practical which helped alleviate my fears. Because of the pandemic my case was postponed for just over a year. His office staff, especially Natalie, was fantastic with providing updates and communication throughout. I'm very happy to say that because of the hard work of Rubens staff my case had a very favorable outcome.
