This is a small museum. We enjoyed a really nice talk with the sweet old guy that volunteers there. He is very knowledgeable and friendly. You get to play and push buttons. Do to covid was slow and empty, we are always looking for things to do with the family. We are happy we came.

Try to imagine an era in the U.S. when men and women had separate waiting rooms for the train! This tiny museum will show you, and there's no charge because it's run by the city of Las Cruces and many volunteers.Built by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe railway in 1910. Many original furnishings and period advertisements too. Admire the 1944 text message system, that was the teletype :). The local model train club operates several working layouts, the kids can watch those quite a while. And for toddlers there's a wood train table for playing.

This review is a bit late, but my husband and I took our kids here for Santa photos. Watching the train pull in with Santa was so fun for my kiddos. Santa was so fun and nice. We had hot coco and cookies after...such a blast. The trains were so fascinating to look at, the details were amazing.

Married to a major railfan, I get to see A LOT of local railroad museums. Las Cruces Railroad Museum is a delight. In a wonderfully restored station with numerous displays and photos of the station and the local area during the era of train ruling the travel world. Its a small building, but they have done a wonderful job of keeping the authentic feel of the train travel time gone by. The local model railroaders have several layouts that are even interactive. Take the time, stop by & spend a little time in history. You won't regret it!
