June 1, 2023 - Las Cruces Museum Nature & Science (Las Cruces, NM)This is a cool little science museum in Downtown Las Cruces that is free to the public and includes fossil artifacts (including a large T. Rex skull, rocks, and petrified wood), interactive outer space exhibits, and exhibits of wildlife of the New Mexico area, including live swimming turtles, frogs, snakes, lizards, and fish, as well as mounts of a mountain lion and wolf. Fun for the whole family. They have some gifts available as well.

Small museum, but very much worth a stop. Admission is free (donations accepted). Some interesting interactive displays (try to find the red bead representing the sun from among 10,000 beads). View the Permian Trackways and try to wrap your brain around the earth as it was 280 million years ago (long before the dinosaurs). View Zilla, the very large snapping turtle if you can (I could only see her backside, she wouldn't turn around.). And stand in front of the T-rex exhibit and feel tiny and as insignificant as a tasty little snack in the eyes of this massive creature.

Very fun, very small, free museum. We basically had the place to ourselves on a random Thursday and the kids quietly played with the toys and exhibits for hours. Highly interactive and fun. Nice quiet educational experience. More demonstrations and events available on weekends.

This small and intimate museum is great for kids to learn about the desert's history and animals. However, the pandemic has closed off certain sections of the museum.

What a wonderful local FREE nature museum! Did I say free? Live snakes and frogs and rocks and stuff sure. The Permian trackways are wonderful to see - because you can't find them in the actual mountains when you go look. The highlight for us was the globe interactive exhibit.See weather patterns, the moon in 3d...just stand in there and push the buttons to see all kinds of interesting projections onto the globe. The number of free programs offered is astounding! Bugs, snake feedings, dinosaur stuff, lectures etc. There is something for everyone of any age. There's usually parking on the street. And pop over to the fine art museum connected by a short hallway. Both are free!

This a nice little museum, especially for a city the size of Las Cruces. There are several interactive activities for the kids and I enjoyed it too. While we were there they fed the reptiles and amphibians and everyone got to watch. They were also having a ceramic exhibition with some very interesting pieces. This is a great educational activity for the whole family.

I thought that this museum had a good amount of interesting things to see. I actually spent quite a bit of time looking at the live snakes, frogs, lizards, and tarantulas that were on display. The museum seems well thought out and well organized and the people working here are nice. Admission is free and the museum is connected to the Las Cruces Museum of Art. We came here on a weekday morning and were able to find street parking right outside.

Heavy on the dinosaurs with lots of exhibits showing catches of dinosaur eggs. Also nice displays of fish, snakes, turtles and other local native wildlife. Great for kids as they have hands on science activities for them.
