La Vie Est Un Bistro

The ambience was pleasant. Service was good. However the food arrived over one hour after our order and was not worth the wait. Both the salmon and the ravioli were lukewarm and lacked the flavor that we hoped for from this bistro.

I loved the food, the ambiance, our waitress and the personal attention from the chef...Overall it was a cozy and quaint evening. My friend ordered the French onion soup, which was spot on with the cheese and a touch of sweetness in the beefy onion broth. My salad was loaded with fresh veggies but a bit overdressed for me-next time I'll get the truly yummy dressing in the side. My chicken Marsala had a flavorful, perfectly balanced sauce over juicy chicken breast, with a delicious, buttery parmesan pasta on the side. My friend enjoyed her chicken dish as well. Next time I'll try the rack of lamb for a treat. The desserts looked great but was too full to try. Next time...

Chef is well travelled and his food tells those stories. Your entree will take forever and it will taste like someone took all the time in the world with every single detail taken care of. The flavor profiles are a treat like no other he spoils you in his food so much love and pride goes into all he cooks. Regulars we are Regulars we will remain Lucky we are to have him in Silver City A REAL TREAT! Exciting each time we go we wait to see what he has for us the best chef bring you the best meals ever.

Without doubt the worst restaurant experience of my life. We arrived for our 7pm reservation on a Saturday night. We were informed that all the specials were gone but no big deal, the rest of the menu looks very appealing. My wife and I both ordered French onion soup to start, my in-laws ordered Caesar salad to start. Two people ordered pork as their entree, one a rack of lamb and one chicken masala. We had read reviews re. Slow service "but it's worth the wait", so our expectations were realistic (we thought). After about 30 mins the French onion soups arrived and the waitress said the Caesar salads were on their way. The waitress returned 5 mins later and said there was no rack of lamb and then 2 mins later to report there was only one pork but she could get us a filet instead (which was not on the menu). So we ordered one pork, one filet, one cod and one chicken. The onion soups were now finished but no salads had arrived, the waitress said the chef was having to make more dressing??? It's now 40 mins since we've ordered, we've received half our appetizers and have been informed that half our entree orders have been changed. While still waiting for his appetizer to arrive my father in law is served a filet steak, it's cooked to the right temperature but it's cold! The waitress informs us that we should pretty much give up hope of receiving the rest of the appetizers. Then the cod arrives, it's hot but the cod has been so over cooked it's rock hard. 10 mins later the pork arrives and it's cold. So now we have 3 entrees on the table that have arrived spread out over the course of 20 mins, but 2 appetizers and 1 entree is still missing. Bear in mind this place only has seating for 20 some people, an amateur could cook for this small a place. Finally the chicken arrives but without sides, they arrive 10 minutes later!!!Only one of the four entrees has been served hot, the entrees and sides have been spread out over 25 mins and two of the appetizers have never been served. Then this clown of a chef comes out and makes a speech about how he only does this out of love and these phlebs sitting in the restaurant are all ooing and aaing over him like he's Thomas Keller. People in Silver City must be crazy or desperate if they think this place is anything but a complete disaster. Avoid at all costs, this "chef" has no business running a restaurant.

Came back for brunch and it was absolutely delicious. Great jazz piano playing in the background and delicious food.

We were thrilled to find an option to the Mexican and American bar food restaurants located downtown in Silver City. La Vie Est Un Bistro was wonderful. The salads, soups, and entrees were cooked perfectly for our group of four on a Friday night. When we made our reservation, they gave us a heads up that it's BYOB so we brought some wine. Walking in, we knew we would have a relaxing and special dinner. We spent about two hours enjoying our meal and returned again on Sunday for brunch. The chef treated us to homemade soups while he cooked our chicken and waffles and croissant sandwich. We look forward to returning the next time we travel to Silver City.

Went for lunch with a friend - the food was absolutely fabulous. I started with Chef's lentil soup and fell in love at first sight. This is a small, intimate venue perfect for a romantic meal. A perfect place to go with a friend for fine food and long conversation. My sister is visiting from out of state next week, guess where I'll be bringing her for a superb supper.

Unexpectedly happened upon this laid back French bistro when we spent the night in Silver City. Our spinach ravioli and chicken marsala were flavorful and reasonably priced. We enjoyed our bottle of California wine and the charming vintage atmosphere. The service was casual and friendly. After our meal the friendly owner / chef Jason Pierre stopped by to chat.We had a very pleasant dining experience at La Vie Est Un Bistro.

Their food is so delicious, no matter what you order!!! Flags of every country in the world is now above wherever you sit. Kept us busy guessing and checking online.

Food is amazing and the ambiance is just lovely. The ravioli is mouthwatering. They also have daily specials that are always delicious. I highly recommend!
