La Reina de Michoacan

Came in for an agua fresca and it was very good. They've got lots of snack options, ice cream, aguas frescas... all looks very delicious. Young lady at the front was real nice. Will be back to try something to munch on soon!

As a native San Diegan I had never heard of Michoacán style ice cream. I have heard of Tepotzlan style and wondered if it might be similar.Today my husband and I walked into La Reina de Michoacán to try it out. I'm so happy that we did. The ice cream is DELICIOUS! I had a scoop of the Cajeta and my husband tried the Gansito. So good.The lady who waited on us was extremely friendly and even helped me with the pronunciation of Fresa LOL.The store is super cute. I would definitely come back to La Reina de Michoacán whenever I'm in El Paso!

I've been back in San Diego for three days, carrying this receipt around in my pocket, so I make sure to remember to fill out this yelp. Hands-down, one of the best milkshakes I've ever had in my life. I don't know what kind of magic they put in this, but it was incredible. I ordered a Tres leches salted caramel milkshake. I wish I had taken a picture of it, but I probably drink it less than two hours. And it was huge. I ended up having it for dinner. The service was wonderful. The shop was very clean. There weren't a lot of places to sit down inside that I can remember, but it was just amazing. Paul ordered a strawberry milkshake and didn't really order anything fancy but his was amazing as well. My TL ice cream wasn't artificially creamy, but it tasted like fresh cake and my grandmother's homemade vanilla ice cream. There was a caramel in the bottom of the cup and swirled around - elevated to The next level. I wish I had taken a picture of it. But honestly, I couldn't stop drinking it. It was like childhood Nestlé's strawberry quick where you just can't put it down. Did I mention that I ended up making this my dinner???

There should be another category of ice cream shops that could be called Mexican ice cream shops because these shops are not simple ice cream parlors. Of course, you have ice cream flavors like vanilla and strawberry but they also make flavors like Bubulubu (booboolooboo) which is a popular Mexican marshmallow chocolate bar with strawberry jelly or piñon nut flavor which was pink and had a fruity flavor with plenty of pine nuts. In addition to ice cream, they have agua frescas, paletas (Mexican ice cream bars) and antojitos, which I suppose could be translated as snacks but the word literally means little cravings. Paleterias are different because you can have milk/cream based or "water" based bars which are usually blended with chunky bits of fruit, but you can get these freshly coated in chocolate and/or nuts. My wife's go to is the nuez paleta (usually pecan and/or walnuts, sugar and cream) covered in chocolate and nuts. Mexican antojitos usually start with a snack you can buy at the store and then they're amplified. For instance, tostilocos are a bag of Tostito chips with cheese, jalapeños some like cueritos (pickled pork skin) but it's up to you. Agua frescas are blended drinks and made with fresh ingredients like watermelon, strawberry and horchata. The service here is phenomenal, fast and friendly and you won't find a cleaner ice cream shop. Highly recommend

This place has amazing homemade ice cream in a variety of interesting flavors! They let us sample many different flavors, which made it harder to choose. Thankfully, we could have 3 different flavors. This huge delicious treat was less than $7They have many other treats and snacks.... We can't wait to return and try other deserts

It was a very clean space with cool decor . The sweets were out of this world . I had the peaches and cream and my bf got ice cream . The service was amazing the nice woman was so kind and spoke up when I told her I had hearing issues .. our new favorite cheat treat place !

This heat is crazy, if you live by the airport then you need to try this place. They have the all sorts of ice cream flavors and snacks. Their aguas are also really good, I had the Frutas agua and it had chunks of fruit.

This is my favorite place to get authentic Fresas con Crema. The place is always clean, the staff is polite and accommodating. Their menu selection is great! The prices are a little high but it's worth it.
