We came here because I'd read in several places that it's a must-try if you're in the El Paso area (it's about 40 minutes away). We decided to make the trip and check out the village it's located in--which turned out to be a really nice spot to explore! The decor and vibe of the restaurant were definitely on point. They even had macaws and parrots in cages, which added a fun touch while waiting for our table. The service was also friendly and attentive overall. However, one downside was that our server wasn't writing our order down. While that's fine if you can remember everything, unfortunately, a few items were missed. Thankfully, we weren't charged for those, so it wasn't a big issue. As for the food, some dishes were really good, but others were just okay. Personally, I'd recommend visiting the village itself, but I wouldn't say the restaurant is a must-try. Worth checking out for the ambiance and experience.

La Posta De Mesilla is in the middle of the plaza of Old Mesilla and very popular, especially on a Saturday night. Gorgeous interiors but with overpriced gift shops; but they do sell some pretty badass salsa that is served with our dinner. The service is remarkable in the gift shops, regardless if I purchased anything. The waiting was typically 25 minutes on a busy Saturday evening. They had the whole lobby decked out in Disney Christmas themed animatronics of Mickey, Minnie and Donald Duck. Super cute!! Their restrooms were very fancy and pink, with old Spanish and it doesn't matter what year it is: I feel like I traveled back into the 1800's! Super classic and old timey. We were sat in this very back room filled with so many other people and it was hard for our servers to squeeze right through us, it was crowded! PROS:Very beautiful interiors even the ceiling had hand paints flowers and fruits. The music, the water fountain, the experience. The green salsa smothered over my Fiesta Fries and the their hard working staff! They do have 1 vegetarian fajita dish. They have a Gluten Free Menu which is great in itself. CONS: the menu lacked a lot of vegan and vegetarian options. You could get the guacamole salad for $10.00 but who wants just guacamole with lettuce for dinner which everyone gets a big meal? I got the fiesta fries with no cheese or sour cream and with extra guacamole and the green salsa. I just wanted more. They did forget my extra guacamole and green salsa and My fries had shreds of lettuce and diced tomatoes but the fries in itself for bland. I was grabbing the salt and pepper shakers the whole time. 1 more Con: their parrots in the cages! It just felt so sad having the parrots show some sign of distress and they looked like they wanted quietness but they were gorgeous birds. I could tell the staff were really caring about them. Their names were cute like Candy and Sugar; someOf them even had their own Facebook accounts. LOL. Our servers did make up for it and we're such attentive team really.

Sad to say we had a bad experience. Our waitress never checked in on us until she delivered our food and it took over 45 minutes to get it. Our order was not complicated and the restaurant was not very busy. Our food was flavorful and plentiful so that is the reason for this updated mixed review.

The short story:Ambiance = great location, old school family run vibeService = fast and friendlyFood = mixed bagThe longer story:Arrived around 7pm on a Monday night. The location is very good. It is in the old historic area of the town. Short wait, but seated within 20 minutes. Once seated, we were served chips and salsa (very good) while we check out the menu. The menu covers a lot of items. I opted for a combo platter. It came with a tostado compuesto (a bean filled cup shaped tortilla chip), an enchilada, and a chili relleno. The tostado was good, the enchilada was okay, and the relleno was mediocre. Perhaps there a better options on the menu.Perhaps, it was better in the past.

Stopped here for dinner in Las Cruces. A very fun atmosphere. The food was average, not earth shattering but still pretty good. Our server was very nice and friendly.

Service was spectacular. My wife was cold and so our server spoke to the manager and they were able to turn down the air. Servers were thoughtful and gave us plenty of time to order, but also checked up on us frequently but too frequently. Food was very good, but not quite perfect. We love the ambiance in there overall with several amazing rooms, the place never ends. It's very pretty in there.

Driving past Las Cruces and thought we'd give La Posta a try. The last time we were here it was many years ago. Sad to say the food hasn't gotten any better. Wife had a quesadilla and it was "just alright". I had a combination plate. The tamale was very dry and the enchilada was still cold as was the rice. The restroom was not clean by any standards. The waitress was very nice and attentive. Will we be coming back?? No. Definitely not. There's better choices in Las Cruces.
