Tried this location as it was close to our driving route. However, we were dissatisfied as the taste fell flat especially for the prices (which seemed a high compared to other places in the area).We ordered the tacos and Gorditas which were good but not great. We had ordered items to go which they had forgot about, but still tried to charge us for. The chips and salsa were ok as well.Overall, we hope this was an off day for them but we won't be back anytime soon.

We visited Silver City on a Sunday and Monday. Very little was open. La Cocina was one of them. This place is not as nice as some of the local neighborhood taco shops i have eaten at in TJ. Food was ok, service was not good. I will say, if you like spice, maybe you will like La Cocina a little better. The green sauce enchilada had good flavor but was VERY spicy. They have two levels, Very Spicy and Ver, Very Spicy. I am not a fan of that. Let me put it this way, locals said order the hamburger. Why would i go to a Mexican restaurant for a hamburger. The college police office and his family, eating at the same time we were, must have known, they ordered hamburgers.

We ordered take out from here for a family dinner spanning three generations. Everyone enjoyed their food. I tried the quesadilla tacos which were tasty. I loved their salsa--good amount of heat and flavor! The portions are generous. My uncle ordered two burritos since given the low price he thought they may be small (as in Golden Pride size) but they were huge so he had a full meal for the next day!I passed by the place the next day and it's not inviting, so I'd recommend just taking out.

For such a small and simple cafe, La Cocina really has an incredible menu with every conceivable combination of enchiladas, chimichangas, tacos, and burritos imaginable. I really enjoyed the 'enchilada-style' chicken chimichanga smothered in green chili sauce and cheese. The chimichanga is packed with tender white chicken meat. I'm glad I opted for simply the chimichanga and not the complete meal with beans and rice because there is no way I could eat that much good food! Glen enjoyed a combo with an enchilada, chile relleno, taco and rice. Everything was beautifully prepared and presented. Nice friendly service and reasonable prices.

One visit was enough. I came on a recommendation that it was "worth the wait" and they weren't kidding it was a LONG wait. 45+ minutes at 330 pm on a Monday for two meals. Only one other patron present and already eating. Not impressed with the dining area or the aroma. Food was not very good. Paid $2 extra for a tablespoon of faux guac with chips that were like biting into shower tiles. The fries were cold and damp. PASS

This is my personal favorite for Mexican food. They make the best carne asado, puerco asado or pollo asado tacos in town, and my friends really like their combination plates. The atmosphere is casual and prices are mid-range. Avoid Sundays as they are often very crowded. It is a popular place with the locals.
