I have lived in rentals for over 25 years. La Cima Apartments in El Paso, Texas is the worst apartment complex I have ever lived in. Here is why:1) My apartment flooded with sewage 5 times while I was there because of the poor plumbing. The apartment units next to me also flooded with sewage each time mine did. My neighbor asked them to replace his carpet and they refused. All they offered was a carpet cleaning. His apartment smelled like sewage the rest of the time he lived there.2) The La Cima Apartment Complex is not safe. There was a murder directly across the street from the apartment complex and cops came to the apartment complex at least 6 times while I lived there. I witnessed a man run next to the complex with an AR rifle. Moments later half a dozen cop cars arrived. The altercation appeared to be related to drugs or gang activity. I also witnessed drug exchanges take place directly in front of my apartment. I constantly found drug paraphernalia laying around the apartment complex. The apartment complex smells like marijuana almost nightly.3) The security lighting was broken the entire time I lived there. Add this to the crime problem and I definitely did not feel safe.4) My Heating / AC unit went out and they didn't repair it until the next day because they didn't want to pay someone to work after hours when it broke. 24 hours without a properly working unit in El Paso, Texas is miserable.5) There are literally cracks in the wall that allow sunlight into the apartment. In addition, there are gaps in the doors that prevent the doors from closing properly, which allows sand to blow in from the outside. The cabinets and fixtures are old and falling apart.6) The laundry room was broken into constantly while I lived there. I was afraid to do my laundry for fear of having my clothes stolen.7) Pool parties take place at all hours of the night. After the pool is closed and management leaves, random people arrive, jump the fence, and have parties. I'm not sure if they are guests of apartment residents. Regardless, it is noisy, and the pool is closed but no one seems to care.8) La Cima Apartments will immediately raise your rent if your lease expires and you do not sign a new lease. I let the office know I needed two extra months to move because of my job and asked if I could extend my lease. They refused and told me I needed to sign a new lease for at least six months. When I refused, they immediately raised my rent by $200 a month ($100 rent, $100 month to month fee). If you are like me and can't move out immediately because of a job, new living arrangements aren't ready yet, etc., La Cima Apartments will immediately raise your rent.
