My grandma often buys a dozen of red pork tamales here. She shares them with me and other family members. They're pretty good! They're usually fresh tasting and have the right proportions for me. They have enough pork and masa (dough). I wouldn't mind if the tamales were a little bit spicier. There has been a time or two when I had to add salt but it hasn't been recently. My favorite in town are Pepe's but I would say Jefita's come in second or third. I also like green and sweet tamales. I haven't had a chance to try them from Jefita's yet. I plan on tasting those sometime soon. I also haven't tasted their other menu options either. I hope to do that soon as well. This is a good place to come when you don't want to spend that much money. Jefita's will take care of your tamal craving fast!

I have previously had their red and green tamales. The red are ok, nothing out of the typical. The green are pretty spicy. But today I went to try their sweet tamales. I tried their anise and a pineapple one. They are both good but the pineapple (albeit plain looking) were so amazingly different yet delicious. I cant say how great they were. They have a bit of coconut in them. I will take for my family who has a discriminatory palette.

Tamales that are freshly made with lots of meat and just the perfect flavor. The gorditas? Yes please! Better than going to the kermes for them. Great little spot definitely happy it's near home. Tried the enchiladas tonight and they are perfect!

I had the worst experience from the food at Jefitas. I bought a dozen tamales was eating one and bit into something hard. At first I thought it was a chile stem or something. It turned out to be a big, ugly, brown FINGER NAIL!!! FFS El Paso needs a grading system from the health dept like they have in LA. Why are they not wearing gloves? And if you lost a finger nail wouldn't you throw the whole batch away? It's just so inexcusably disgusting. You've lost several customers!

We got 2 dozen a week before Xmas. We got red and queso con rajas. They were not good, super dry, no flavor , the green chile with queso had hardly any rajas and little cheese mostly dry masa but they were very, very spicy. I'm not sure what happened they were good at some point. Also the lady working the register was treating people like they were a bother

Although I've bought tamales from this place before, I was somewhat surprised that they had raised the price of a dozen tamales to $21.60(that's $23.38 with tax). That makes them the most expensive tamales in my part of town. I asked the lady at the counter if this was going to be the price from now on and she said that it depended on the "economy". I checked with two other tamale businesses and their price has not changed. I'm pretty sure that the price will come down in Jan. They'll go out of business if they keep them at this price.
