When in Rome as they say... I had an itch for Menudo. Lots of folks sell Menudo, but not all folks sell GOOD Menudo. We considered a few places, the usual suapects, but then one popped up - this place. Fair warning. You are going to have to go to El Segundo barrio area, right by Bowie Bakery, and it's cool for us, but maybe not for you. Second, it's a cash only restaurant. Beyond that, it was worth the trip. It's a small little place that is defitnetly a neighborhood embedded favorite. They claim their Menudo is world famous. Now, I don't know about world famous but I do know freaking good. Also, try the burrito de Picadillo and Flautas de Carne desebrada. Very nice or as one would say in El Paso - a toda madre!

In the heart of El Paso, where trendy avocado toast and artisanal coffee fade into the background, lies Jalisco Cafe, a breakfast haven for locals. Forget the Instagram-worthy brunch spots; this cash-only joint (ATM on site) is about the real deal, the kind of food that fuels working folks and hungover souls with equal gusto.Their claim to fame starts with the tortillas. Imagine thick, homemade pillows of perfection, each bite a testament to the power of simple things done right. They stand alone, yet serve as the foundation for their legendary menudo. This isn't your grandma's watery pot; it's a spicy symphony of tripe, hominy, and spices that will clear your head and warm your soul, earning Jalisco Cafe awards year after year. But don't stop there. Their green chicken enchiladas are an ode to simplicity. Forget fancy sauces and cheese rivers; these are enchiladas in their purest form, tender chicken bathed in a green chile sauce that lets the quality of the ingredients sing. It's a dish that speaks volumes about Jalisco Cafe's philosophy: good food needs no pretense.Jalisco Cafe isn't about trendy vibes. It's about the legacy of a retired Navy man sharing his love for traditional Mexican food. It's about the power of a simple, well-made breakfast to connect you to a place, its people, and its traditions. It's a meal that leaves you feeling alive, grateful for the simple pleasures, and ready to face the day. So next time you're in El Paso, do yourself a favor and skip the hipster joints. Head to Jalisco Cafe and experience breakfast the way it was meant to be.

Quirky little spot in the Segundo Barrio.Senator Shapleigh Special had huevos a la mexicana, beans, chile colorado, avocado and tortilla. Portion was small. Chile had tender meat and good flavor, but only had a couple pieces of meat and potatoes. Eggs had too much onion for my taste, Beans were a bit runny. Flour tortilla was freshly made and delicious. Avocado wasn't ripe. Overall the place was decent, but I felt the breakfast plate was a tad bit overpriced. They need to update their menus.

Wow! This place is located in the heart of the Segundo Barrio! Excellent authentic home made Mexican food, just like my Nana use to make! We came on Sunday and it was packed, mainly with to-go orders of Menudo! Overall, amazing food and the waitress was super friendly with fast service!!! All of our food was freshly prepared!!! We ordered pancakes, Huevos con Chorizo, Enchiladas Montadas, and Menudo! Reasonably priced-make sure and take cash!!!! We will be back...

My wife and I came here because of the history of this restaurant and it's ties to the city. Additionally, Padma from Taste the Nation, came and visited El Paso, and she also went to Jalisco Cafe. Very friendly people, affordable and plentiful, tasty as well. I'd go back the next time we visit!

Ain't all that. Is this what they call TexMex food? I was not impressed one bit Padma Lakshmi shouldn't give advice in food she knows nothing about

Delicious food!! Definitely a hole in the wall restaurant, delicious food...homemade and authentic. The place itself is old and rundown. But don't let that scare you. They also only take cash but there's an ATM inside.
