J&G Grill

Before making the big turn south from US 90 towards Big Bend NP, I figured I would top off the diesel tank, and fill up my two empty cans in the back of the truck. Pulled into what appeared to be the only open service station in town, and noticed there was a small counter inside market in themselves as a grill restaurant. Who am I to judge? Besides, the kids were feeling a little peckish, and while we did not want to stop for a full-blown meal and mess up our well planned schedule, I didn't see anything wrong with grabbing a few things for the kids to split in the backseat, and hopefully get most of it into their mouths and not onto my upholstery.I ordered up a few Gorditas, since the meat smelled good, and I figured how do you mess up ground beef and fixins in a thick cornmeal tortilla?I walked back out to the truck just about the time my tank was full, and threw the bag into the backseat to my kids, all snarling like ravenous wolves. I heard the sound of wrinkling and tearing paper, as they devoured the food. One of them managed to say "these are good!" Between bites, but before I could get into verify, they were all gone. Oh well, South bound and down for four days of camping on the Rio Grande.The place was closed up and dark when we drove by again on our way out for days later, but really that's OK. Things tend to happen and the line in the moments that you need them to, so if ever I'm passing through Marathon again, and the stars align, and the only thing to seat my hunger is a gas station gordita? J&G is going to come through, you just watch.

Close randomly. Came in at 4 pm and they had shut down even though it said open until 6 pm. Completely unreliable. Not apologetic either. They don't deserve to be in business if they don't care about their customers. Take your business to somewhere that cares.

If you are driving too fast you will miss this little gem. In fact it is hard to find because all you initially see is a gas station. But you definitely need to stop by and check it out. Had the beef Gordita. Wow, an amazingly thick corn tortilla stuffed with meat and then a compliment of lettuce tomato and salsa. Tasted incredible. Be careful on squirting out the salsa, it is thick and when it does pop out of the bottle it can be an overwhelming amount. But it also tasted great.Service was excellent, on top of everything. And very friendly. And for the price, more than enough food to fill me up

Must try!!!!! Locally owned and operated wonderful folks. We got a sausage and egg and bacon and egg sandwich made fresh with real eggsno warming lamps. Super affordable! Under 5$ per plump sandwich. Clean bathrooms and delicious food and plenty of drink options

Simple, no-frills grill at the gas station, but the service was great and the gorditas were yummy. Indoor dining is closed right now. You can sit outside at the covered picnic table or take your food to go. It's a good quick stop.

The food was very good. We had a hamburger and nachos. Hard place to find because it is in a gas station. Only sign is on the door. Good fries, too.

Delicious freshly made breakfast burritos!!! I had an egg, potato, and cheese. Hit the spot! Also found clean restrooms.

3.5 stars if I could. Clean place. The cheese burger was good and big. Onion rings good, 6 in the serving seemed small. Green Chile burrito not good. Ground beef wasn't seasoned to my taste wrapped in a burnt tortilla. I appreciate them trying to crisp it up but it went too long and wasn't good. Would come back again for their burgers. Friendly staff.

Fantastic quality breakfast burritos and sandwiches. Stopped by on the way out off Big Bend. Highly recommended. Don't know about other meals but based on the breakfast, everything else has got to be good as well. Clean bathrooms top it off.

J&G has such a loving environment, amazing food, and a nice clean restroom. I totally recommend this place 10/10
