My husband and I stayed here previously back in 2016, and we decided to stay here again during the last leg off our vacation. we wanted to drive up to the observatory for a star party. The hotel was clean, and tidy. Very visually pleasing in the common areas. I can't speak to the bar/restaurant It is currently being renovated. Personally, I do not think that the train is that loud. It's an Amtrak train so it doesn't stay very long and it passes rather quickly. I am a relatively light sleeper and I sleep with earplugs and I have no problem with the train they do provide earplugs for your stay if you have a problem. I definitely would stay again.

What a find! If you want great food, wonderful service and a unique setting, this is the place. Two of us had beer battered fish and chips. The servings were large and the fish moist, tender with a crunchy crust. My husband had Pork Osso Buco. It's a sure bet if you like pork. Lastly there was Blackened Red Fish which was over the top good. All the meals were delicious and presented beautifully. I cannot say enough about out delightful waitress. She was fun, polite and just attentive enough to supply perfect service. We were there for my birthday on June 1, and The Holland made it a memorable evening.

Enjoyed my single night stay there before the half marathon in Marathon the following morning. Room #202 had an extra living room and 2 full baths which worked out great for me and my best friend. Refrigerator too. Our room was clean and easy to control temp wise. Nice ranch style themed lobby, and decent live C&W music was playing most of the night on the patio/courtyard (older xrows). The full service/menu bar inside was where the hipster crowd hung out). The restaurant, Century Bar and Grill served some great looking food, so i'll try them next year,Friendly sraff, and train wasn't that loud...

My stay at the Holland was by far one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had! We were road tripping through Alpine and decided to stay one night so that we could rest and refresh ourselves after several nights of tent camping, so needless to say I was already more excited than ever to simply sleep in a comfortable bed. When we arrived we were met with a beautifully decorated lobby with a nice fireplace, a pool table, and plenty of space for lounging around. The gentleman at the front desk was friendly and checked us in quickly and we settled into our room, Nina's Room. It was the smallest and the only original room in the hotel. I picked it simply because it was the most cost efficient for two travelers just spending a very quick night, but we got a wonderful experience out of it and the room had more than everything we could have asked for! I could honestly give five stars alone just for the rainfall shower head in the bathroom which felt amazing and made for the best shower ever. The rest of our room and the hotel was beautiful, clean, and cozy that I found myself wishing I was staying an extra night! I love the history behind the Holland and the uniqueness of the whole place. If I'm ever traveling through Alpine again I will definitely be staying here once again!

I was very close to staying at the historic Holland hotel during a trip to West Texas. Located in Alpine, the hotel has a lot of old school charm to it and was built by a well known architect. What ultimately kept me away was that a train passes through close to the hotel which can make it noisy at night. I'm a light sleeper so that was a no-go for me. Instead, I ended up visiting during the day to see what the hotel is all about. It is a nice hotel and I spent some time walking around the lobby. A kid's birthday party was taking place on the outside patio. While I can't comment on the rooms, if you're a heavy sleeper, it's definitely worth a stay.

This was our first visit to Alpine and it did not disappoint. The Holland is charming and definitely what I would expect during our stay. The rooms were nice and clean. The beds, however, were less than desirable. If we return I will look into other locations just because of the beds. The tub in our bathroom drained VERY slowly and by the time your shower was finished the water would be above our ankles. This creates a safety hazard when standing in a cast iron soapy tub. We didn't get a chance to eat in the restaurant but did visit the bar and had a great experience. When we checked out I forgot my iPad in the room. The hotel staff found it and called me to let me know very shortly after we left. I was so grateful for their honesty and going out of their way to make sure it went home with me. Thank you Holland!

Stayed here last month and had a perfect time. It was on a pretty quiet weekend so I felt like me and my group could really take our time exploring the place, it has quite an interesting history. I don't remember which of my friends recommended I stay here but whoever you are, thanks, it was the highlight of my Texas trip. Everyone at the front desk was amazing and for once in my life I didn't have housekeepers opening my door in the morning in spite of a DND sign. Love you guys, will be back!

Do not stay here. Used to be great...apparently they are corporate now. Bar and restaurant were closed for renovations and when I called they said it was not. Our room had no air-conditioning...staff sent someone up twice. We came in at night it still wasn't fixed. Alternate room offered by the hotel had horrible beds with springs in them, so we had to move back to the room with no AC . Staff was resistant to offering a discount. Now we have to make other arrangements for our stay tomorrow night, and it will not be at this hotel! I have stayed here many times over the years. Truly disappointed in the new management!

Love this hotel and have stayed there many times. Most recent stay disappointing because elevator broken and at age 74 dragging luggage to 3rd floor prohibitive. Also receptionist unfriendly about my little dogs. Always welcomed in the past.
