Needing a bite to eat before zipping up the mountain for a star party at the McDonald's Observatory, my girlfriend and I popped into the Harvard Hotel with our appetites. With a limited menu, we presumed anything ordered would be rather scrumptious. We decided to order the chicken fried steak along with the green chili bacon burger. We shared our dishes per, swapping plates half way through our respective meals. Our consensus was identical and is as follows: The green chili bacon burger was indeed the superior dish. In fact, it was quite delicious! The chicken fried steak was good as well, but the portion was a bit small and the sides were nothing to write home about. Was the burger worth $18? Probably not, but to be fair, I'm not sure that any burger is deserving of such a price. That being said, it was indeed a tasty burger if you don't mind the price. Was the chicken fried steak worth $20? Certainly not. Truly an average dish with small portions, we both feel the decision was regrettable at such a price point. In conclusion, with a juicy burger, an average chicken fried steak, and a limited menu with overpriced entrees, the Harvard Hotel receives a 3 star rating.

Wow. This chicken fried steak was great & huge! Pictured is only HALF! The mashed potatoes were definitely homemade and I don't typically like cauliflower but this was good too! Jalapeño cheese popper ball was great & the homemade chips were top notch!

Great ambiance and the food was delicious. We had the harvest salad and a steak with some wine! We stayed at the hotel and I loved sitting out on the balcony at night. I would go again just for a weekend getaway in a heartbeat.

I really can't say enough good things about this hotel. Not only are the surroundings beautiful and secluded, but all of the employees (Bo, Mason, and Wes) are incredibly friendly. The hotel and ranch were built fairly recently, so the rooms are new construction, but still have the west Texas charm. The pool and hot tub are amazing, and they offer trap and skeet as well as jeep tours on the ranch. I can't wait to go back, and I'll definitely be booking more days this time.

Another great stay at the Hahvahd! We stayed here this time for three nights, and it was just as comfortable and clean as last time we were there last year.

Lovely hotel in Fort Davis with a great staff. Large rooms with a western motif. Free wifi. Fluffy towels. Plus access to the pool and hot tub at the ranch (owned by same people). What's not to like?

The rooms are large, new pillow top mattresses, and beautiful decorated! We had a room booked next door at the Drugstore (it was so bad we left without a refund, they wouldn't even give a portion back when we complained about the beds) and walked over to Harvard Hotel. What a great staff and beautiful room! Can't wait to go to the ranch.

We came to Fort Davis in order to visit the observatory. We originally had meant to stay just 1 night but after getting rained out at Big Bend, we ended up having to stay for 2. The front desk person, Rick (I think is his name) was really quite helpful. We asked him for advice on things to do, places to visit, and he didn't disappoint. He was nice and easy to talk to the way all people are easy to talk to when you're in a small town. The location can't be beat as the hotel itself is downtown in Fort Davis. There's a ranch of the same name that these people also manage that is more expensive out on Sproul Ranch. They do jeep tours here too. The guide is Bob and he's fun. He says consequently a lot but he's very knowledgeable about the area and pleasant to listen to. I learned so much on the ride and it was a good way to spend an afternoon. The room and facilities were nice and clean. The rooms themselves are all wood paneling but appropriate for the location. Can't say enough good things!

I can't figure out how to delete my review! I've never been inside this place so all I can say is that it's well-located and was probably named for the Harvard University researchers who came down this way in the early 1900s, I believe.

Stayed in Room 1. Carpet was dirty from food and drink spills. Air conditioner was loud in need of repair. Elevator has been out of service since at least July. Toilet paper was the cheapest that could be bought. State required smoke detector was missing, the wires for the detector were there.
