Hacienda Vieja

The decor is pretty cool! They have those giant carved Mexican style wooden booths.. very sturdy and extravagant. Note: They had a band today also. Not sure if this is a regular thing or not, but they were playing traditional Mexican songs.. not mariachi, I don't think.. but.. in my defense.. I'm a Gringo and I don't really know.. it was the cool music where they singer does a lot of crying singing LOL. I liked it..Anyway, I had the Fajita Mexicana. It came out really quick! Steaming and HOT AF! It flavorful.. Beef, Chicken and Chorizo! I liked the bite size cuts and the vegetables were very well done. The only two draw backs for me, and star deduction. The First: The meal was very good. It just wasn't spicy. The salsa was also good, again though.. no heat to it.. I don't want my face to melt, but I want to feel the heat. As other reviewers mentioned. Bland. The Second: There were three young women at host counter and no one seamed happy to see me.. they all looked bummed out, didn't really acknowledge my presence nor welcomed me. The one that took to the table didn't even speak to me.. Table or a booth? Nope.. just took me to a booth and left.. she was the skinniest of the three.. I'm like... Ok.... Anyway, I might come back at some point..

We always liked eating here. Tonight was terrible. My wife's cheese enchiladas were not hot and the cheese was not melted so she had to send them back. My food was ok but the rice had sort of a burned taste. And our waiter was terrible. He took our order and brought drinks. Another guy brought the food. We had to stop another person about the enchiladas being cold. Our waiter brought her plate back out and only returned to our table when we were finished. I never got a refill on my drink. I could see him standing on the other side of the restaurant but he never looked over to see my empty glass sitting on the edge of the table. We were really disappointed. And it's not like they were busy. Parking lot is usually packed but only about half full tonight. Maybe they knew something.

Hands down the worst Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. The waitress argued with me, brought me something I didn't order, when our food did arrive it was cold . When we got it warmed up it didn't taste right, tasted like they were supplementing the beef with liver. Never got chip refill, requested queso never arrived. Won't be going there again, EVER!!

Oh my gosh!!! 10/10 best Mexican food I've had in Midland... I got the mini tacos al pastor, refried beans, and Mexican rice delivered through DoorDash. It was delivered within 30 min of my order which shows their prep time was less than 15 min! AMAZING food, tastes very authentic and you don't want to stop eating. Literally got all of this food for just me and I had to force myself to not eat it all. Also when you get queso, the chips come for free! I do believe it is overall well priced, as this could've fed two people for under $25. Definitely recommend!

I'm so confused how the food can look so good and taste so bad. Let me start with this. The overly annoyed tiny cashier sat us down at a table. Extremely unfriendly and about as personable as the rock hard table was. Bad impression already. We sit down and the dude brings us chips and salsa. Both which were excellent. We get our drinks soon, the water was fine and surprisingly not tap water.We order the food. I got the red enchilada plate with a ground beef taco. (I don't particularly like chewy fajita meat). The red sauce was good, the tortillas were fine. But the CHEESE. What even is that? It's a white cheese but tastes like how processed velveeta cheese would be. Waxy and bitter with a terrible aftertaste and film leftover. Couldn't do it after one bite. The rice was decent and I didn't bother trying the beans. The ground taco meat on the other hand was 10/10 delicious.Our server was attentive and timely, the food got our warm and quickly. I do not like the snotty girl who sat us. Of course no one there wears nametags so you can't call them out. I might give this place one more try, without ordering cheese on anything.

Came in a little hungover and extremely hungry. I wasn't expecting to be convinced by the bartender to finally try the infamous michelada. Let me tell u that i was exactly what my stomach needed. Afterwards, i ordered the sopa de camarones (shrimp soup) which was magnificent. Service was super attentive, live music was traditional mexican and the food was super authentic.

By far one of the worst Mexican restaurants I have been to in Midland. The salsa had way too much tomato sauce in it, the service was awful, and I had ordered the caldo de res and all it had was fat in it. I was extremely disappointed in this place and will not be coming back

Food is good but wait staff is inattentive. Took awhile for food and was moderately busy.

Good food, traditional atmosphere and real service. Authentic food and good people will keep you entertained.
