I never park my eBikeKit-assisted CruzBike in front like this, blocking access to sharply discounted books in front EXCEPT this one moment!

These days, buying new books is not as it used to be, since everyone just buys books for their kindle or whatever other reading device they have. If you enjoy browsing for books and finding hidden treasures, visit this store. All proceeds go to supporting the libraries in town, the library bus and a bunch of other things that support education in El Paso. The selection is large, and if you can't find something you're looking for, the staff will add your request to a list and call you when that book is available. Support this local used books store and enjoy the atmosphere. And if you have large amounts of books to donate, call them first. They're staffed by volunteers and they could use a bit of a heads up.

Very friendly volunteers. One lady even helped me unload my books. Great place. Please support them with donations and discounted purchases.

As a husband/father/retired teacher/explorer/bicyclist/adventurist, my zeal for travel has always been to find a "better" way forward, which usually means less expensive and likely more exhilarating. Whether biketouring or using other means, having a reliable overnight (or several!) means accessing as much information beforehand as possible. My life membership in HI-AYH gave me excellent overnight possibilities throughout the World, and, prior to the internet, having hard copy guidebooks containing brief descriptions/locations of hostels was key to finding the always-fantastic/inexpensive beds.Unfortunately, technology has made phenomenal comms & awareness virtually instantaneous, and those 7.5 billion+ of us not as skilled as "digital natives" (my son, daughter, their significant others) can accurately be classified as "Digital Dinosaurs" (ME)! But I'm not quite extinct, having evolved enough to effectively use an iPad/iPhone/desktop to usually keep my nose above water. And this is where the exceptional "Friends of Cielo Vista Library" comes in; I regularly peruse it shelves for extremely inexpensive travel information. Specifically, LONELY PLANET guidebooks serve as another great tool in my travel bag (now exponentially increased by the internet). I have these hard copy books on most countries around the globe, and, along with the internet, can now "plan ahead" and rather accurately predict where I'll be and when arriving/departing. Of course, that is just a sliver of what's available at this fabulously inexpensive (used) bookstore. The extremely pleasant volunteer retirees who maintain the strip-mall space are generally open Wednesday - Saturday, (10:00-16:00). This is such a marvelous source of "old school" information that does not require electrical outlets, batteries, monitors, etc., modern contrivances pervasive in the 21st century. I love it, and "CIELO VISTA FRIENDS of the LIBRARY " (indeed, ANY friends of the library--and there are many throughout El Paso--is a guaranteed education!) certainly has my enthusiastic "Wheel of Approval!"
