Pleasantly surprised...frust, but not last time at Good King in N. Mesa.We dropped in after a short walk around the N Valley Market. Also, my neighbor said wine selection here ain't half bad. So, we went in with zero expectations but walked out content. We found most of what we needed, and plenty more that we couldn't find at the Walmart or Albertsons and the prices were competitive. It's supermarket busy, but it's navigable. I didn't get the feel that it was too busy. Its not unusually loud, and there isn't music to keep you moving it, or keep you in the store. There are manned registered and self scan available. Just like EalMart and Costco be prepared to get your receipt and cart checked on your way out. Other than that we were glad to stop by and will definitely return.

You do have to do some math as you shop, adding that 10% to know the actual price and see if you are really getting a good deal. Overall there is a lot there that is better priced than Wal-Mart and Albertson's. The vegetable and fruit area is good. The manager of that area is very particular about checking items for freshness. In particular, bean sprouts which I shop often. He will pull them off the shelf if they look a little wilted. Same with lettuce. Impressed. Roasted chili is always fresh. Meat not so much. No in store bakery so don't buy that there but spices are an excellent buy. Overall, woth the trip

Food King is a good grocery store to go to if you want to save money. The produce and several other items are always reasonably priced. I usually come to Food King whenever I'm waiting for my check to hit my bank account. I also come when I only need to get a few items like eggs, toilet paper, a bag of chips, etc. I kid you not, the eggs were .39 for six! That's a great deal to me! That's less than a dollar if you want a dozen. In 2019, I say that's a bargain! The day I went was hot so I got a can of Coke Zero and a paleta. The Coke Zero was .42 and the paleta was .81. I got a strawberry paleta and it was delicious. It had lots of strawberries mixed with strawberry syrup. I wanted to make tacos so I bought the tortillas there for .97. I also got some Chile de Arbol (red chile) for $1.75. The cheese was around $3. Kind of pricey but not too bad. I also got some tomato sauce to make sopa (macaroni). The two cost me about .60. Yeah, so I love Food King! FYI, they do add 10 percent at the register to most items but believe me, it's still a bargain. The reason I give it four stars is because it's sort of disorganized. I also don't recommend the majority of their meat. I think it's looking a little bit better than before. Other than that, everything else is good and typically a good price. They also have a lot of other authentic Mexican products like candy, soap, soda, cookies, etc. They sometimes play wack music in there but some of it is cool. They play a lot of old school music which is OK with me. They usually play 70s and 80s hits. In the past, I've heard disco hits by KC and the Sunshine Band and Donna Summer ("Hot Stuff" lol). I enjoy the Elton John, Journey, Queen and others. The music is sometimes too loud...or I'm just getting older. Did I mention, they also have an extensive beer and wine selection? It's also priced very fairly. Their customer service is just OK but tolerable. I give this Food King location a solid 4.

Drop the up charge! More manned checkouts. Go over display aisles and look critically how dirty the stores are. Then we'll return.

For the amount of people they have buying stuff, they never have enough registers opened. Service is non-existent. It doesn't seem like the savings materialize
