My wife and I went there to open a checking account and deposit a large sum of money. I also had a small check that I had from my new job. The customer service rep, a big man, told us we needed a second form of ID so I went home to get the rental agreement. Meanwhile, my wife waited there and was treated rudely by this person. When I came back, my wife informed me what had happened so we went across the street to USBank. This was the one on Lohman.

I've been a member of FLFCU for over 25 years; and I've NEVER had any problem with them. I primarily use the HWY 70/Del Rey Branch; but I have also used the Lohman and Foster branches. In all cases, the staff has always been courteous and attentive to my needs. Reading through the 1-star reviews here, they seem to be isolated problems (which do happen); but they don't accurately represent this credit union's usual day to day operations. Before switching to FLFCU, I had an account at White Sands Federal Credit Union. My reason for switching was because FLFCU has some of the best interest rates on share certificates of any banking establishment in Las Cruces.

Terrible customer service, the machines were down, the manager left to get coin, and the teller said he couldn't help us until the other guy returned because he couldn't leave the front unattended. We did not get assisted, I have 3 accounts including a business account that I will be closing.

Consumer beware: Firstlight FCU is now holding people's payroll checks and will not release all of the money into your account if you don't maintain a minimum balance of the amount of your check.IE: if your check is $2500 and you don't maintain a balance everyday of $2500 they will not give you your full check for a week. They'd rather you close your account than give you the money you're entitled to. They claim this has always been in their policy they just never enforced it before. This is classist behavior against people who have to live paycheck to paycheck and it is outrageous.

I've banked with this Credit Union for several years and did not have any issues until I tried to finance a car loan with them. I submitted the paperwork through a painstaking online and phone call after phone call process. Each time I called (even with only a few minutes in between each call) I had to re-explain everything I was trying to get done. I had to reconfirm my email address FOUR times with their staff. I worked primarily with a man name Jose who claimed that because of my credit profile and the fact that it was my 1st auto loan, my interest rate would be over 17% Yes thats right, a Credit Union that boasts low interest rates on auto loans has been charging me 17% interest. Jose claimed that it was due to my credit and when I informed him that I had a 742 credit score (July 2019) he said that FLFCU uses a "different type of credit score" based on home and auto loans. To top things off, I submitted my insurance documents directly to Jose to verify the vehicle was covered AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE. I have since been charged each month for their insurance coverage (over $400 so far) even though I submitted my insurance documentation originally, then FOUR subsequent times after I received letters and emails asking for verification. I used to think this Credit Union was a good alternative to the big banks around town, but they have abused my trust, wasted my time and charged me for things I don't need. I don't have a large salary or a big financial portfolio, I just wanted to buy a car and I will never use them again once my car has been refinanced by another institution by the end of this month (March 2020)

Horrible Bank with the worst customer service. When you first open an account, they do not inform you of any fees & or the drawbacks of transitioning from a non credit union to a credit union. During this time period we are looking to purchase a new home & we will be looking elsewhere because we are also closing my bank account with them this week, a few months after opening it.
