My glasses

If I could give them negative stars I would. Run, don't walk, far away from this business unless your goal is to take a time machine back to the early 80s because everything about this business is archaic, including the customer service. Oh, where to begin:1. Only made an appointment here because this was my boyfriend's childhood eye doctor and it was taking months to get in to see any other eye doctor in LC. I should have found another way to capture my boyfriend's childhood nostalgia than to give them my business.2. They haven't changed ANYTHING since my boyfriend (now 53) was a child. The carpet, seating, interior, and technology are all stuck in 1980. Need to use CareCredit? Oh wait, they only take the care credit card with the visa logo because that's all their machine will take - regular credit cards.3. Need to order glasses after your eye exam? Hint: most people do. But wait, they don't have an optician there to help you so be prepared to hunt down your last eyeglass order to see what it is you ordered.4. Need great customer service? This is not the place. While I was trying on frames, one of the women there picked up my current glasses that I purchased somewhere else and proceeded to spray some solution on them and then wipe them down with a cloth. They didn't ask before they picked them up beause if they had I would have told them "No thank you." I only clean my eye glasses with clean hands, running water, some Dawn dish soap and only then will I dry them with a dry eyeglass towel. Anyone who works with eyeglasses will tell you that if you take dirty glasses and wipe them with a dry towel, you're just rubbing dirt all over your lenses and scratching them. Additionally, if you spray them with eyeglass cleaner and then wipe them, you're still mixing the cleaner with the dirt and still dragging the dirt all over your lenses, which is what this lady did to my lenses. It was very difficult for me to go back and tell this lady that she left swirl scratches all over my lenses which I had kept scratch free and pristine for more than two years. I lost sleep over whether to go in and tell them what they'd done but I was so upset about their lack of knowledge and consideration that I felt I had to go tell her, even though I knew she'd deny it and tell me they didn't do anything. So, that's exactly what happened. First she tried to fault another employee and then she proceeded to deny anything and fault me and then by some miraculous knowledge proceed to tell me that the scratches looked "old." How she could even tell that by looking at my lenses is beyond me and perhaps some type of super power, but I highly doubt that as well considering she didn't know how to clean lenses even while working in that profession.I went ahead and canceled my eyeglass order with them (which they misspelled my name on numerous times despite my writing in the correct spelling of my name) and took the prescription (which I hope is even correct) and ordered glasses online.Frankly, they probably won't even see this review because I doubt they've even heard of Yelp. No one in that office seems to care about anything, be it updating the office and technology, making mistakes right, having the proper knowledge of lens care or even if their customers return. Dr. Lewis seemed nice enough but it may be time to retire and find a nice hobby. All he did was check my vision, didn't dilate my eyes or check for anything else. I'm in my 50s and every other eye doctor I've been to in Los Angeles checked for all sorts of things. And the staff there? I hope they don't get hired with another optometrist in the future or I won't give that place my business. They made need a profession where customer service is not part of the job.

Not only did this doctor witness the beginning of the universe he's so old, they try to rip you off all they can. With our insurance we pay $10 copay for the exam. That's IT. My child went today and was told she'd have to pay an ADDITIONAL $100 copay if she wanted the contacts exam because she has an astigmatism. Um, no she sure as fawk doesn't. I've had an astigmatism my whole life and I've never had to pay extra to be able to buy contacts the doc office. I should have read the reviews before letting her go to this incompetent excuse for an eye doctor. I wouldn't let these people wipe my arse, much less pay them for an eye exam.

My kids had appointments at Family Eye Care on N. Main this afternoon. When we walked in, we noticed immediately that not a single staff member was wearing a mask, and neither were the majority of the patients. When an employee took my daughter in for her exam, I noted this fact. She pulled a mask out of her pocket and showed it to me. I asked her if she would be willing to wear it while she examined my children. She responded, "We have our rights. We don't have to wear them. We've talked to our lawyer." Just to make sure, I clarified, "Are you saying you won't put that mask on while you see my children?" She replied, "I don't want to. If you're uncomfortable, you can come back another time." Presumably, she meant when the virus is no longer a threat. We left. If you think Covid-19 is a hoax, you will be right at home at Family Eye Care.

Too expensive. Since I have insurance my glasses were over 850.00, that's dollars, not pesos. My cost was over 350.00 and the insurance picked up the rest. I have since seen the same frames for 100.00 less at the Mesilla Valley Mall. My vision, with the glasses is distorted and I questioned this, unfortunately for me it was after the first 30 days so no help. What I was told was It's been over 30 days so we can't help you, what I think she meant was they couldn't help without charging, but that isn't what she said. They are all likable but I won't go back nor will my wife or kids.

Fast efficient prompt and timely!...I had my prescription and it took all about 15 minutes to get the order delivered to their agent. They are right by city hall!

I went in to get an exam to transition from glasses to contacts. The doctor is an elderly man and when he came in the exam, it is obvious that his mental capacity is diminishing. He was walking around babbling and he wasn't making sense. After a short exam, I was given my contacts. I didn't realize until I got home that I couldn't read my phone or my computer. I called back calmly and told them what I was struggling with. The assistant immediately got defensive and said it was my fault for not telling them what I wanted. I responded that I am not a doctor and it is their job to prescribe the right contacts. I just wanted a resolution to my problem. When I tried calling back, they blocked my number. I called from a landline and they answered and told me they no longer wanted me as a customer. I'm blown away by how bad the customer service was. Please read all of the reviews on Google and on Yelp. This is a systemic problem with this business. This doctor is not fit to be in business.

Worst eye care place in Las Cruces! The employees are incompetent and rude. They are also putting lives at risk by not wearing masks. Not a single employee wore a mask, and they didn't care if their patients did either. We asked for the eye doctor to wear a mask while she was with us so that we wouldn't be risking our lives, but she refused to do so, even though she had one in her pocket. Never go here, you are these employees don't care about anyone, since they are putting their patients lives at risk by not wearing masks. Hopefully they will go out of business.

I was surprised at just about every aspect of this place. I chose it only because my insurance could be used here. However, the costs were outrageous. For glass fitting and contact lense fitting plus one pair of glasses it cost over $500. With insurance it cost just below $300. I've paid that out of pocket before at other places. Many typical tests I'd get at an eye doctor we're not included--no glaucoma test. The doc was hard of hearing and very unprofessional. I will not go back except to pick up the glasses I ordered

I wish I could make it 0 stars!!!! The office manager was very unprofessional with my husband. She had no customer service skills at all!! She hung up on him twice and then threatened to call the police on him, all because he had some questions regarding his eye health and she had no patience. When my husband asked the receptionist if the office manager was always that rude to customers, she replied, "yes". I believe she's gotten away with her bad attitude for so long simply because her boss has allowed her to. Shame on him... Please don't go there, I'm sure there are better places to get seen.

I have gone to Dr Lewis now for about 10 years. I have always had a pleasant experience in there and find he is one of the more "down to earth" doctors. He doesn't rush you, and explains things well and answers any questions you may have. The staff has always been friendly and answers any questions I have. I am a small business owner and I know the importance of supporting a small business!
