Excellent friendly service. Clean and cared for. Owners clearly take pride in their restaurant. Food was very good. Queso was excellent. Guacamole good. Warm chips. Tasty medium hot sauce. Iced tea was very good. I very much look forward to coming back.

Food is great, service is amazing. I usually don't eat seafood this far from the coast. I'll make an exception for this place.

This new restaurant is located in the former Tampico Spanish Inn building. I don't remember the old decor, but they certainly didn't upgrade the seating. The bench in our booth had what seemed like an entire roll of tape on it to cover the tears in the vinyl. That's OK, I've lived on a shoestring budget before. We arrived early and were promptly greeted by our waiter and received menus, chips, and salsa. My wife and I ordered chicken fajitas, chicken quesadillas, queso, iced tea, and a beer. The chips were OK, the salsa fairly spicy but it had no real taste. The fajitas and quesadillas were good. The beans were OK, the rice was a little undercooked. When finished, we agreed that it wasn't quite as good as our favorite Mexican restaurant, but it was worthy of another try after they got some more experience. Then we got the bill, we were surprised to see that the PRICES WERE 10-20% HIGHER than shown on the menu! Normally, I would have thrown a fit and gotten it straightened out. However, our waiter seemed a little clueless and I wasn't sure that he would understand. While he was friendly, I'm not sure that he spoke fluent English, and the manager had to help him do everything. Secondly, it was my birthday and I didn't want to spoil the evening with a confrontation. After thinking about this, I don't know how they got the prices wrong on individual items. They made a notation in the menu that they charge an 18% automatic tip for parties of 6 or more, there were only two of us. The price difference wasn't 18%.Thinking about it a few days later, I don't think we'll go back. Even without the excessive charges, the pricing was higher than almost every other Mexican restaurant in town, and the food didn't justify it. The total price before tip was $55.EDIT: El Capitan has now posted their menu, with prices, online. Looks like the prices they posted are much higher than the printed menu I had. A small bowl of cheese dip (queso) is now $7.50 compared to the $4.99 on my menu. A single order of fajitas is now $21.99 vs $16.99 on my printed menu. Pricing is WAY out of line for Mexican food, in my opinion. I won't be going back.
