My wife and I stopped by for a late lunch returning from Ruidoso. February 15th and the menu was a special Valentine's Weekend streamed-down version. You've been there, done that. Raise every plate $10 or so and hope the people don't leave. Our server was great and was deserving of five stars. Left him a generous tip. As for the meal. Their bread resembles the cheap Walmart dinner rolls. Walmarts might be better. Salads were decent. Main course can be beat by any steakhouse in town. At the "holiday price point" it doesn't hit four stars. The restaurant is very clean but had there been more than a few parties, I would say it would be cramped.

We went here looking for a new restaurant. I can say with certainty that Juan was a great server. Literally 0 issues there. The main problem was in the food. We got the appetizer of calamari and it had literally no flavor... Like eating cardboard. I got a bowl of chicken fajita soup for my wife... Again no flavor. My son's spaghetti sauce was not sauce but more of diced tomatoes. Finally, the steak that was supposed to be medium was closer to Rare . Way overpriced for what you get. Oh yes, and the bread is just king's Hawaiian rolls. Another disappointment. One and done .

Steak was DELICIOUS! The environment was very friendly and welcoming, prices were so reasonable for the portions of food you get and the steak was perfectly cooked. Will definitely recommend The Edge of Texas over Great American. Just sayin

All of you from El Paso had given Edge of Texas Steakhouse some good reviews. When I eat at a steakhouse there are a few things that I kind of expect. Mostly the beef to be good. The place is outdated, which may be the atmosphere, however when on a Friday evening it's every elderly person in the edge of Texas and not at all customers that they could have, that was my first clue. My second clue is when I noticed the dress code of the individuals, probably "Regulars". The prices and online reviews suggest that it is an above average place to eat. I ordered an Edge of Texas Old Fashioned, first of all, an old fashioned is probably one of the easiest, oldest, and more popular drink and wow. I doubt it was made with a cube of sugar, I'm not tasting bitters, and just tasted like the local watering hole. Crazy for the price though. Then I ordered the shrimp cocktail. Cocktail sauce is absolutely not made in house, tastes like from a cheap jar. I then ordered the Prime Rib, medium rare, and asparagus. A house or caesar salad. The small salad came out on a dinner plate. Why? While order the prime rib, the waitress asked how I would like my prime rib. What is going on in the kitchen that there are choices? That was my third clue. I was with a friend and my friend ordered first, I should have went with my gut. The prime rib and asparagus come to the table and wow. The aju sauce was unflavored and unseasoned. The prime rib was tough to cut and rare as rare could get. None the less, I absolutely will not be recommending this establishment to anyone. I will inform them that they can go if they want a cheap piece of meat, over priced, not cooked to order, and crap drink. Should I had a date, I would have been embarrassed and walked out immediately.

You know that point where Texas, Mexico and New Mexico all meet? That's pretty much where this little, out of the way, steakhouse is. When you walk in, it's like you have been transported back in time to the 1880s with all the beautiful wood decor, but there have been plenty of updates. One of which is the speakers playing wonderful old country music and old bluegrass music. So what do you order when you go here? Your answer may vary, but as for me: I ordered the 10 oz Ribeye (naturally called the "Edge of Texas Steak") medium. Baked potato and salad for my sides. The salad was great, topped off with a vinaigrette dressing. Then came the steak and potato. The steak was absolutely grilled to perfection. Wonderful flavor, perfectly seasoned. The baked potato was excellent as well, just needed a little sprinkling of salt to make it 10/10. After finishing all that, my server had the audacity to ask if I wanted any dessert. I was full, so of course my gluttonous side won out and said "bring it on!" She showed me a tray of desserts that made it hard for me to choose just one. But, I chose the cheesecake topped with strawberry. When she brought it to me it was just as big as the one on the tray! I was shocked to say the least. I made it all the way to the end of the cheesecake before I tapped out. If you ever make your way out to El Paso, Tx or Alamogordo, NM, do yourself a favor and check this place out! You will not be disappointed.

Get the buffalo steak! It was incredibly delicious, marbled to perfection, and was told same day cut.

The restaurant has a bar/saloon atmosphere. The food was less than desirable; not cooked well and lacked flavor. The service was good, our waitress was very attentive. The kitchen could definitely use some improvements. My family and I will not be returning.

I was going to leave 2 stars. My husband who is usually less critical than myself said only 1!!!We hadn't been to the Edge of Texas in several months probably almost a year. It's always been wonderful and one of our favorites. We had our 1st date here 26 years ago. Prior owners were Excellent! I got the impression it's changed ownership. We decided to go to celebrate our Valentine's Day here. HUGE disappointment! Decor has changed. Was always a Cattle Ranch type high end atmosphere. They have taken the ranch feel out and modernized the decor. Waiter was not knowledgeable or attentive. Ask for lemon for the water. It never came. Ask for Blue Cheese on the salads and salads came plain with no dressing had to ask. Requested only butter on the baked potatoes ( can't do dairy) Both potatoes came completely loaded with everything! Waiter completely spaced our requests. There were only 3 tables occupied when we arrived and no other tables were occupied when we left. On Valentine's Day mind you !!!Prime rib was over cooked and very greasy and 2/3rds of the expensive prime rib was all FAT! Shrimp was undercooked and tasted raw. My husband described the shrimp as " fishy tasting"I know shrimp is his favorite and offered him my last shrimp and he didn't want it because it was fishy tasting. Wine was good and the bread was good. We were asked if we wanted to look at the dessert menu and we both answered together with a big NO! You would have thought that on Valentine's Day and the Valentine's special would have included some chocolate or some suitable dessert for two to share for over 120$ Not worth 120.00$ or the 60 mile round trip drive. Very sad to say we will never go back.
