A nice stop, the kids manning the front were nice and friendly. The homemade ice cream was quite good.

I love supporting small businesses, as I am self-employed and live in a tiny Vermont town, but we were treated so rudely here by the male working on Thanksgiving Day that my recommendation would be to stock up on EVERYTHING YOU NEED in Silver City before venturing up to Gila Hot Springs. It's a great little store with many necessities, but the attitude ruined it for me. I didn't need to buy anything there as we were in a camper filled with supplies and wish I had left everything at the counter. My father was also treated rudely by this gentleman, twice.

Doc Campbell's post is a must stop place on your way to Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument. They have an excellent variety of New Mexico sourced gifts, local books, hot coffee, and most importantly HOMEMADE ice cream. We had the chocolate and coconut which were both so good. They also have strong wifi if you need to touch base since there is no cell phone service out there. The family that runs the shop are super nice and are the kind of people you want to support.

Doc Campbell's accepts packages and provides re-supply boxes or people hiking the Continental Divide Trail and their customer service is amazing. My parents are hiking the trail, but Doc Campbell's helped me surprise them for Mother's Day with a nice meal when they stopped in to pick up their re-supply box. They were even so amazing as to custom bake my mom's favorite cookie recipe and pick up some chocolates from a local artisan.Even planning weeks in advance, I could not find anyone that would have been able to deliver before Mother's day for my mom. Doc Campbell's really made a magical surprise happen.

Shocked to see the previous reviews but it looks like the bad reviews were for different management. The gentlemen and his wife who own this store now are good people. We were camping in the park and had some car trouble, we were gonna just cross our fingers and try to get to Silver City, but the woman who owns the store said that the car smells like it is running hot and that she would get her husband, (who miraculously for us used to be a mechanic,) and owns Subarus as well. He went ABOVE AND BEYOND in helping us and giving us the info we needed to keep the car going til we could get it to a mechanic shop. These are very nice people and they have a nice shop too. Definitely stop by while in Gila. And their granddaughter even makes homemade ice cream which is sold there. I got coconut and it was DELICIOUS!

What a great store! They have an extensive library of books to purchase, many regional art pieces, supplies, and they're a great source local information.
