I am in town only for a week and walked into DD Crossfit to make sure I could keep working out while I am here. The drop-in process was very easy for someone visiting from another Affiliate. During the first class the coach called me by name and was very helpful, both to me and the rest of the class. The whole class was very friendly! Granted, I have taken the Crossfit Kool-aid and can't do without regular exercise anymore - I have found a home with Crossfit and feel like they have found the perfect balance of training for strength, endurance, mobility and flexibility! As a 56 year old man who once went nearly 16 years without any deliberate exercise, getting involved with Crossfit has been a life-changing experience. I've lost over 40 lbs, recovered the stamina I had 20 years ago and, in some ways, become stronger than I've ever been! This gym is clean, friendly, and the coaches take personal care of each athlete and work with them at their own level. I recommend this Affiliate without any reservation.

I've had an interest in CrossFit for a while, but it wasn't until today that I finally gave it a go and I have to say, I don't think I would've found a better gym to start at. The coaches spent the time demonstrating everything we'd be doing, having us practice each position, making corrections to our form, and actually cheering us on. None of us had ever done CrossFit, but there was no intimidating feeling and even when I was messing up, I didn't feel embarrassed. The environment that they create gives you that drive to do your best and push yourself. From what I gathered, Desert Devil is one of the newer CrossFit gyms on the market. They're still working out some minor details like signage visible from the street, but if you plug in their address on GPS you won't miss it. I don't know what parking is like during their normal classes, but if you can't park right at the gym you'll still be able to find parking on the street. We took their 10 AM class on Saturday that was a free introductory class. CrossFit workouts are dynamic and there can be a lot of different options for every workout so if you want to get a feel for CrossFit or maybe just work on your form, this is the perfect class to drop in on. You can sign up for the class online through their website, super easy. The class went through the basics. The first half was focused on learning each move and proper technique and the last half was an actual workout. What I liked the most was nobody was pressuring me to go harder or go faster. Everything was more about motivation. And we were even reminded a couple of times that it's okay if you have to take a couple of seconds to shake it out. You're competing with yourself, trying to do more each set, but it's not the end of the world if you don't. It was all very one-on-one, but I got to set my own pace because who knows my body's limits better than myself?Really great team! Nice, open facility. Just all around a great gym for anyone, beginner or experienced. Even if you're in El Paso (like me) and just want to learn about CrossFit and figure out if this is the workout for you, I'd recommend this be your first stop.Oh and shout-out to Elyssa for killing it on those box jumps!

Great CrossFit box, with knowledgeable coaches. They don't just write the WODs and say "GO," they always keep an eye on your form and intensity. Coaches: They both have an olympic lifting background, which is great, because the Oly lifts are the toughest to learn in CrossFit. They've been doing this for years, which is evident when a beginner comes in. They know how to scale workouts down for "newbies," without making them feel like they've been singled out.Community: The rest of the members are great too, very supportive friendly. In my opinion, the benefit of CrossFit is that you can start, and at day 1, get encouragement and support from people you just met. It really is a great community, and Desert Devil helps foster that by holding events every once in a while, whether it be: beers after a WOD (High Desert is just down the street), a "bring a friend happy hour WOD", or hosting various cookouts/potlucks.Equipment:There are 2 Olympic lifting platforms where you can come and practice Oly lifts, with Rogue kg bumpers, with a men's and a women's bar. There's a ton of bumper plates for weights, plenty of room to squats, pullups, wall balls, hand stand pushups, etc. All the equpment is fairly new, the knurling on the bars is still great, and they all have great whip to them. They have 2-3 beginner bars, a few15 kg Bella bars, and probably 8 or so 20kg bars.Classes:They run an on ramp class for beginners where they instruct newer athletes on the moves, working from simple to the more complex moves. This lasts approximately one month. If you're a CrossFit veteran, you'll be able to skip this and jump right into WODs (some places make you pay even if you've been doing it for years!). They have early morning classes, and evening classes, so you'll likely be able to find something that fits your schedulePricing:Pricing is pretty standard for the area, and I had to fight to pay them for my drop in (I just bought a shirt instead). People don't realize that while it costs more than commercial gyms, what you get is 1 month of coaching the basics (so many people don't have basics down), coaching during WODs, someone else to program WODs so you don't have to figure out "what to do when you get there," Yoga classes on Saturdays, and 2h open gym on Saturday. Bonus: there's usually a puppy or 2 to play with, who doesn't love puppies.Summary: Great coaches, great space, great equipment, great community. Good for all fitness levels. You'll never get bored, and always be pushed to give your best effort. I've been a member since I moved here in August, and everything's been awesome!

I came as a drop in from Phoenix and from the moment I stepped in, I was impressed. This was a really clean gym with very nice equipment. The people were incredibly friendly and welcoming.I have been to other boxes all around the country and this one made me feel like I was a long time member and a part of their community. Julie greeted me when I walked in and charged me 10 bucks to go to open gym and do the metcon. I thought that was a really reasonable price. The metcon was fun and they encouraged people to scale when needed which I appreciated. After the workout, I had the opportunity to chat with the owner, Jeremy, and he was a super nice guy. This will be the only gym I do a drop in when I come to Las Cruces. Only thing is I wish they were open on Sunday. Thanks for letting me workout in your gym and use your equipment. Until next time!!

Thanks to Yelp for introducing me to this place as a result of the Yelp Fit Club event. I took the trip from El Paso to Las Cruses to check this place out and I was utterly impressed. The outside of the place make you wonder but once inside, I felt right at home. This military family owned business displays their pride with a huge American Flag draped on one wall and great equipment throughout. The owner met us, provided instruction for the WOD and motivated our group through the entire work out. As a former trainer of athletes, they do it right. They walked us through each exercise, demonstrated each exercise to ensure we understood form and proper technique prior to starting the event. In speaking to other clients in the gym, I learned that this was a huge contributing factor to them switch to this gym as well. The instructors are involved through the entire workout making correction when needed and motivating everyone throughout the workout! Thanks so much Desert Devils! I know I will be sore but stronger as a result!

From a first timer- I've never taken a crossfit class but I have had trainers and taken workout classes at gyms before. Crossfit seemed really intimidating to me before today's beginner class. The coaches at Desert Devil Crossfit are great! It's all about your personal best. If your a beginner and are looking for a challenging yet realistic approach to meeting your fitness goals I'd highly recommend this spot! They will teach you modified moves or suggest different equipment/weights for you specifically. They also educate you on proper form for each move. I got a great full body workout!

Wonderful experience! I dropped in from San Diego & was immediately welcomed. The equipment & gym were in excellent condition & clean. I initially had some tech issues & was looking to do the open gym. The coaches welcomed me & my bf, fixed the tech issues, made sure I knew where equipment was, and that I had enough knowledge/ experience to hit my desired workout. Even offered us help/opinions - so much better than just being hands off. The owners were fabulous! Not to mention the kitties! I love the kitties & gym & will definitely be back!

This place is horrible, one of the owners is very unprofessional. Before you can even get a membership she'll make you do an evaluation and then have you buy "pt" sessions and not schedule them and keep your money. If you want to substitute it for something else she'll say "you absolutely need the session" for what you said and try to charge you again. Very rude and unprofessional there are better gyms in the area.

I've been going to Desert Devil for two years and I love it. It's been a life changer for me. I met the owners at a New Year's day party, and decided to give the gym a try. I was so sore the first day, I thought I had made a huge mistake. But quickly I started seeing awesome gains. I felt stronger, was in less day to day pain, and loved how I felt. Better than the strength training has been the community. I love going and seeing all the people that have been so supportive and amazing. New people are welcome with open arms, and are made part of the family quickly. I can't recommend this gym and this group of people enough. Just go and see for yourself. You won't believe what you've been missing.

Although my time at Desert Devil CrossFit was short, I found a place that I truly felt at home. From the first day, the staff and the members were very welcoming. It can be intimidating to walk into a CrossFit box where you don't know anyone. However, any fears or doubts I had quickly diminished after my first class. I have been to a few CrossFit boxes and the family at Desert Devil CrossFit is above and beyond what I found at the others. During the hard workouts (and there were a lot of them) the coaches and athletes remain positive and supportive. I was very sad to leave and look forward to any opportunity that I have re-visit Desert Devil CrossFit.
