Our family truly enjoyed our excellent stay here. The hosts Sid and Elena were fantastic and very accommodating. Breakfast is wonderful. The place is perfect for our family. I would stay again if in the area. Lots to do there including McDonald Observatory which is a must! Also, Davis state park at historical Ft. Davis. Worth visiting. The only thing I would say is that there needs to be better inside lighting where we stayed, However this place still gets 5 stars!

Jamie and I spent a lovely Saturday night here, because it was reported to be the best place in town to stay. Based on our experience, I will wager a large sum that those reviews were correct. This is a newer house that was built to look and feel like an older one, with reclaimed tiles in the kitchen and bathrooms, old oak floors, and a nice big porch. The rooms are very clean, and the community kitchen is bright and beautiful. Free snacks are healthy and delicious, and the breakfasts are basic and tasty.Highly recommended place to stay in a beautiful area- enjoy.

I came in late during the day so was advised of the check in process by another guest. I would have been lost without their help as it was my first stay in a B&B. The room was lovely and comfortable, a bit cool but a sign did advise you could adjust the vents. The bathroom was clean and shared with another room. The grounds were nice but the area around the fireplace could use some landscaping. My wi-fi access cut off at midnight, a little disconcerting. Breakfast was ready on time, French bread toast, eggs, turkey bacon and sausage with fresh fruit. Definitely a place to stay if you are independent and just need to be alone and crave peace and quiet.

The beds were comfortable and the facilities are more than adequate. That's the good. The breakfast was mediocre at best. "Miss Evelyn" looked annoyed when we came in at 8:20, apparently because she had to cook more breakfast, when the information said that breakfast is from 8 to 9. Turkey bacon (why?) cooked in oil. Let's just bypass the cooking in oil and have actual bacon. Runny eggs. Undercooked French toast. Melon that had obviously been cut the day or days before. Even though the information cards in each room say that the "coffee is on by 7, but if you are an extra-early riser, feel free to start the coffee when you like", we came in later in the afternoon with a new placard stating that the kitchen is not part of the rental and no one should enter the kitchen before "Miss Evelyn" invites them in between 8 and 9. The caretaker came to tell my mother-in-law that the water heater that serves their room had been replaced (after she'd had to endure a cold shower that morning), and cattily asked, "Did you all enjoy the brownies?", insinuating that we'd eaten all the brownies (there is a "snack" left in the kitchen each afternoon). The brownies were 1/3 gone when we came in from our outing, and if they'd taken into account that there are EIGHT of us, we did not take any more than our share. If they're going to have so many rules that aren't clear, they need someone on site to manage everyone's expectations.

The inn and the inn keepers are remarkable! The hosts are helpful, accommodating, warm, and clearly enjoy their guests. You will find your accommodations crisp and clean, with thoughtful touches. In addition the the retreat that the hosts and inn offer, the location is perfectly situated for exploring McDonald Observatory, the Davis Mountain Loop Drive, Chihuahis Desert Nature Center, Alpine, Marfa, and more. We plan a return visit during the fall.

2 of the 6 rooms are completely without heat during the winter! We checked into one (the 2 queen suite called the Fisher Hill) on a freezing night when the inside temperatures seemed to be somewhere in the 30s or 40s... There were a couple of tiny space heaters, and plenty of blankets, but one couple couldn't take the extreme cold. So, for the next two nights of our 3 night stay, the proprietor moved that couple to a vacant single queen room that had central heat, with the verbal understanding that the move was fixing a problem at no charge to us. Then when checking out, the proprietor announced that the cost of our three night stay had jumped from $575 to $790. Unfortunately, once the B&B has your credit card, they apparently have no qualms with sticking you with significant extra costs, even though the cause of the extra cost is that a large portion of their B&B is completely without central heat or A/C. Apparently, they do have window units for A/C during the summer. If thinking of booking, definitely check to see if your room has central heat and A/C! Elsewise, depending on the weather, you could have an uncomfortably hot or cold stay, or end of paying a lot more than you had originally agreed to pay.

Pretty cute place located near Marfa and the McDonald Observatory. Check-in was a hassle. There is no one to really explain the process to you, and it's confusing given it's a BnB and not a hotel. They also weren't prepared for people to check-in even though it was past 3pm. I had to call 3 times to get someone to tell me what room I was in. After that, it was a pleasant stay. Only slept here since we wanted to go to the Star Party at the observatory and ate breakfast. Not sure how the shower situation would have worked since there are so many other guests. Breakfast was decent. Made by a sweet woman.
