Copper Stay Inn

So the first thing is there are not many choices in Benson, Az. Copper Stay got better ratings than the nearby Quality Inn and was cheaper.The owner was very nice and accommodating, when we checked in. Once in the room, we discovered his housekeeping staff needs to pay more attention to detail.So one of the queen beds was missing a fitted sheet, leaving the cover to sleep on (no thank you). Luckily we used the other one. There was a very dirty bath towel, complete with a ball of hair, hanging from the bathroom door. The floors were dirty with small chunks and splinters of wood, so it had not been vacuumed. Lastly, the window with no screen was left open, so it took a while to warm up. The bed and pillows were comfortable enough and it served its purpose for tired travelers, but some attention to basic details would definitely up the star rating for the Copper Stay.

Unfortunately, this review is based solely on not being able to get checked in.Because of my late start, heavy traffic on the I-10 to the US-60, rush hour traffic in Tucson, and nasty weather (heavy rains and flash flood warnings), I didn't get as far as I would have liked.So, since this place was next door to the Denny's where I had dinner, I figured I'd stay here.Well, after walking into the lobby, no one was at the desk. Nor, was there a sign saying, Be back in xx minutes. So, after a minute, I hollered, Hello! But, there was no reply.Then, about 8 minutes later, I hollered out a 2nd time. Again, no reply. :-(Well, after 10 minutes, no one ever came to the desk. Bad for them. Good for me. As the Sahara Motel is several dollars cheaper. :-)

We are traveling through to Texas and wanted to stay near Tombstone for the evening, we arrived about 8:30 pm on a Friday night with no reservation. The owner helped us and he was very helpful and welcoming. He is very proud of the inn and will tell you about the nearby places to eat etc. He got us checked in quickly, and we must say this small inn is the cleanest motel we ever stayed in and you can't beat the rates. Will definitely be back to stay again and see Copper, the sweet friendly mascot cat!

Unfortunately, we didn't have the nice experience of a new hotel stay this time around driving through AZ October 2021. I was up most of the night killing bugs! By the 3rd time I got up to use the restroom and had to kill a few more, I had had enough! I tried using the room phone to call Dan at the front desk but the room phone was not working. By the time I got through to him it was around 12:05AM. I told him what had been going on and asked for my money back, he said they were only Monsoon bugs and had I called an hour earlier he would have given me a refund!!! That was not acceptable and we left ASAP! Needless to say we will not be returning.

Wonderful experience for the price, very clean. Although the facility is older it is very well maintained and felt very safe and secure. Bonus: discounts at the Dennys and Dickies next door!

Best smelling hotel room ever. Everything was spotless! Nice staff. Right beside Dennys. Nice shower.

First toilet had pee in the back. Also on second day no one cleaned room. Nothing was done. I think that is inexcusable. Garbage in can no new towles no coffee that's just horrible.​

Arrived late, cashier greeted me at the window. He was friendly, polite and quick. Rooms were reasonably priced, quiet & clean. Beds were descent. Plenty of extra blankets on rack for added warmth. Bathroom was reasonable. Shower pressure good, cold water was cold and hot water was hot. Cashier noted the Dennys for breakfast across the street and Walmart for essentials nearby.

If you can get past a very noisy toilet and super thin toilet paper this is a good affordable place to stay. Beds comfortable and staff are friendly and accommodating. Overall quiet with exception of train and we could hear people above us walking but no talking etc With only three other guest would have been nice to put them in a room where no one was below them. Rooms are clean and spacious with microwave and fridge and nice TV good wi fi. For the price paid it is a great place to stay and we would def stay again. Dennys is next door and give a discount for staying at hotel.

I would not recommend this hotel to anybody. First thing is you have to listen to the check-in guy(Daniel) complain about how he has to work 15 hour days. (Huh? I'm here to get my room--not listen to your problems). Then he feels the need to tell you about his 31 years sobriety.(I did not feel the need to follow-up). From there, it gets worse. I told him about someone on his property acting strangely(she was sitting on a 2nd floor balcony rocking back and forth). He checks it out, comes back, and says "that's one of my employees. I'll give you a refund because you won't be happy staying here." Huh? I never asked for a refund. Then he says, "I can save myself 15% by renting to someone else and not renting to you and having to go through Hotels.com" (BTW, he was reported to Hotels.com for what he did and said and Hotels.com is referring this situation to their management.) In summary, I found the guy verbally aggressive and confrontational. Very unpleasant experience. I walked around the property and did not feel safe. I will be telling all my friends and family not to stay at this place if ever passing through Benson.
