It's listed as a dive bar. But frankly, it's clean and bright. So as I define "dive" - this was not it. It is small and the liquor selection is beyond limited. So that may be the reason it's listed a a dive bar.If you want a bourbon and Coke or a vodka seven then by all means this is your place. If you want something that requires more than 2 ingredients...keep walking. The drinks were cheap. But really poorly made. My wife asked for a Colorado bulldog. She had been talking about getting one forever. Not only did the bartender have to Google the recipe but he had no coffee liquor and subbed Baileys...uh, ok. My Top shelf vodka martini was half Tito's and half well. I watched him poor it...and I watched him water it down with something from the Coke shooter. You know they aren't keeping Tito's vodka or vermouth in there. There's a jukebox and tiny dance floor but I see more folks just bellying up to the bar here than grooving out on the dance floor. It seemed more a cruise bar and an all day hang out for regulars.

This has been a local hangout for me, off and on for about 10 years! I just like this place because some of the bartenders make it am awesome place, despite some of the Mexican music they play, not my favorite, but they always change it! Another reason I come here is because they serve you in actual glasses not like the other bars around there, that only serve you in tiny plastic cups and charge you over 3 dollars for cheap booze! The best nights to go are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday after 8 pm. Johnny bartends those evenings, he is the sweetest, handsome, and makes great drinks! Hector works Saturday evenings, and he is one of the best bartenders in the city, for reals, he even used to teach others how to bartend and has done lots for the El Paso Community! Stop by and have a drink or 2 if you are ever in downtown, it is affordable and they accept credit cards!

Chiquita's was recommended to us because it opened the earliest of the gay bars in El Paso, and it was described as a dive bar which my partner and I prefer. It is unpretentious, but we've experienced WAY more divey places than this one. Chiquita's is pretty nice as dive bars go. Our bartender, Jonathan, was friendly and attentive. The drinks were reasonably priced, but don't look for a 200 vodka selection, 50 craft beers or 15 taps. It's got the basic goods, and that was fine for us. It's not a big place and the decor is minimal with a couple of interesting features. Friendly service in the afternoon for a couple of hours (2-4 pm), a jukebox, a pool table, an interesting clientele (probably gay) and located in their El Paso Pride Square where you can walk to the 4-5 (?) other bars (we didn't). I deduct a star for their parking and the bathroom plumbing. We parked on the street with a meter ($2 for two hours). I presume there's other parking at the other bars nearby. The men's room was very clean, but the urinal didn't flush. We probably would have stayed much longer, but we had business to attend to. Next time we're in EP, we'll allow for more time.

If you're not here for the beautifully buff bartenders (henceforth known as the BBB) that can put on a great show (making your drink) then go home!Gay bar? Eh...maybe. But Chiquita's could just as easily be a simple sports bar. The last time I was here I dragged along my heterosexual drinking partner for the night, Nathan. He'd never been to any of the gay bars, but ran into a couple of people he actually knew so don't be afraid to give this place a shot because if I've said it once, I'll say it again...It's not about being gay, bi or straight, it's just about being comfortable with who you are.Chiquitas is pretty small and it's on the corner of Pride Square. There's plenty of seating and this really is a bar. So you're not going to see a whole lot of dancing going on. The juke box is new school so you have unlimited options for music. I've been here multiple times and I always just chat up strangers at the bar, but I feel pretty confident in the fact that there's a pool table here. But then again maybe there's not. Next time I go I will really focus on my surroundings so I can positively determine if there is in fact a pool table. And like I said the BBB can usually put on a pretty good show. If you go on a slower night most of them throw their best tricks and that alone is pretty entertaining. And of course the BBB are all easy on the eyes.Chiquitas does needs some work to the interior, but whatevs...it's perfect start to a night out or a great place to chat up locals while sipping a drink.

If you're looking for a honest dive bar close to the border -- here is one-- and know your beer and liquor before walking in -- no pretentious around here -- ask for bartender Ryan

I really like this bar because the drinks are strong and cheap. The bartenders are the best thing about this place. They're nice and chill and easy to talk to. There have been many happy hours and evenings where I have such a good time that I end up making out with randoms or having buzzed fun across the street at the Holiday Inn. Oh, there's a Holiday Inn across the street, a bail bond place next door and a dark alley behind the building. If you walk in with a relaxed attitude and an anything goes mindset, you could spend your whole weekend on a two block radius. Should you need penicillin after your fun filled weekend, Juarez Mexico is a short walk away. Seriously though, great drinks, awesome bartenders and friendly patrons

I love Chiquitas, sometimes. Well the majority of the time! I love a bartender named Mark, he is my alltime favorite bartender. Not only that, but man can he fill out his jeans! He has the most beautiful smile and did I mention beautiful smile? The drinks are fabulous, if your on a mission, you will find what you want at Chiquitas. The place, needs a facelift. I mean, I know that we spend a lot so why hasnt it been updated? The Briar Patch is doing fine with their constituents monies, why couldnt chiquitas do the same? It would be nive to have pride square be the pride of the gay community. Lips is the new kid on the block and I think they are well on their way. SO STEP IT UP CHIQUIS!!!They have a good selection of alchol, and itsat a good price. they have a jukebox (always a good thing), pool table, they dont have a patio booooo, and the parking is not fun.The owner is a hoot, I love him!!!There is a Holiday Inn Express across the street, just in case you drink too much and need a place to crash (if you dont spend your whole pay check!) they their is Amigo Bail Bonds in case you need them (LMFAO). Behind the bar is a great restaraunt Pot-A-Few! GREAT EATS!!! So as you can see Chiquis is agood place to be and is surrounded by great businesses. You should go and tell us about your experiance!

First of all, don't be fooled by my own rating. This bar is not for everyone. A friend of mine describes this place as "the kind of joint where you can walk in with a 20 and walk out with alcohol poisoning." And they do have awesome drink specials. But aside from friendly staff and regulars and the fact that it lacks the meat-market feeling of the other gay bars, the best thing about this bar is that there's always something interesting going on for people of an anthropological disposition, like myself. If you don't wanna be seen at the kind of place where cholos wearing fur coats dance with big black drag queens to Salt-N-Pepa, maybe you should go to the Briar instead.

stumbled into this bar one night on my vacation to El Paso from L.A. i LOVED it. friendly atmosphere and chic decor!! the empty baroque fountain in the middle of the bar w/ the table top and fake plant sitting on top confused me at first...but then i realized it was an artistic statement and created more room to sit your drinks on. after two drinks, i realized i had to take a trip to the bano. i was a little shocked when i walked into a bucket sitting on the floor...but realized this was the bar's way of conserving water (how GREEN of them!) i'm just kidding about this last part, but it is definitely not that far from the truth. all in all, this is an el paso staple and a MUST see!!!!!!!

First time here.LGBTQ+ "friendly" with emphasis on the quotes.Pros: not too crowded; decent prices; good music playing on the juke box second drink order didn't take as long as the first Cons: no pool table; no darts; Had to ask twice to be closed out before I got my card back and actually closed out.Waited close to 15 min before I was served but only about 14 people total present at the the time of order. Closer to 20 people now (second drink order took less than 5 min extra points for sure!!!!); the regulars here seem close knit and that's awesome! However, I've been here for about an hour and 10 maybe 15 min and each time I interacted with the one bartender-the one that was serving "other-than-regulars--'" and I still feel like the straight person that "doesn't belong." I'm not straight. On a scale of one to five where 1 is the worst "dive" I've been to so far and 5 being the "best" dive I've been too, I gave this place a 2 but I think it would be a 3 if I was still a local and never played pool, darts, or been too a dive where an anon gets the same service as a reg but that's that.I've never been treated like the "unwanted" straight guy either so that was weird... maybe it's an off night. I might come back one more time. MIGHT!!!
